IT company rewards top performers with an enriching incentive trip to Hawaii

The Aim The IT company chose 41 of their top performers (32 sales staff who in turn picked 9 of their top support staff), to go on an 8 day trip to Hawaii. The aim was to have amazing experiences, including two days giving back to the local Hawaiian indigenous community.

A helicopter flight and a tour of Pearl Harbor couldn’t be missed. Optional activities included deep sea fishing, golf, spa treatments and quality beach time. Each evening culminated at dining experiences in the finest restaurants Honolulu has to offer.

The Trip

The group’s cultural immersion took place in the middle of the trip, with two days spent helping alongside the locals building a traditional Hawaiian hale (a thatched roof dwelling) to help native Hawaiian families to reconnect with their heritage and help redefine them in a more positive and healthy way. Many young Hawaiians will come to this hale to learn traditional arts and crafts, and to restore their sense of pride in their cultural identity.

underground), together with much ukulele playing, and hula performances. The local elder presented the company CEO with a ceremonial spear to commemorate the occasion, which now is proudly displayed in the boardroom.

The Result Catering for a young and active team, their adventure began with either a thrilling down-hill bike ride followed by a hike in the stunning Mānoa Valley Over the next few days they enjoyed a number of other adventurous activities: A face to face encounter with sharks on a cage dive, which, no doubt provided significant motivation for everyone to stand during their surfing lessons on Waikiki Beach.

After two days of hard work, meaningful interaction, cultural games and making new friends, the group had done an astonishing job in completing the shell of the hale. The remaining funds donated by the company will see the structure completed by the end of the month. In celebration of their achievement the group enjoyed a traditional luau with an imu (traditional Hawaiian meal cooked

“Just wanted to say thank you very much for organizing and leading our 'adventure that counts' in Hawaii. The feedback from everyone was incredibly positive - we all had a great time. The community project was amazing and we were delighted to be involved.” Solutions Director and trip leader.
