BEAR ATTACK A REVIEW BY CINDY DZIB
Their newest single, “Broke”, was released in October of 2013. It was only a year after the band had released their EP, Shapes. Broke is about a lover who is after a significant other. The lover is persistent and stubborn to win the significant other over, even though they are rejected and turned down. All the money in the world does not get this person a date. This may sound like a sad love story, but the vocals and the Members of the band include instrumentals give it a positive Mia Minichiello, Eric Radloff, feel and make the audience feel Brandon Bae, Nick Campbell, hopeful for this patient lover. and Logan Shrewsberry. They recently graduated from USC Bear Attack is able to write and with the class of 2013. Their sing about love and rejection music falls under the pop, without the over dramatization alternative, folk, indie, rock of other artists’ songs. Listeners genre. What does this mean? c a n r e l a t e a n d e n j o y t h e This means their songs have melodies like “Broke” and not it all. They have the vocals, the have to feel too much sorrow instruments, the right chords, or pain. Broke is not the only song with the theme of love or and the energy. Who should we watch out for in Los Angeles? These 5 talented Trojans, that’s who. Four Popular Music Majors from the Thornton School of Music and one Jazz Major also from the Thornton School of Music joined together to create Bear Attack a band that creates tunes so harmonious and graceful you’ll want them to release more tracks after hearing their new single “Broke”.

rejection, their whole EP album, Shapes, holds this theme and so do the rest of the songs on Broke. Perhaps many love the songs so much because the songs reflect the experiences of many without the rivers of tears and depressing lyrics.
“your ad here” poster, and monopoly money in an empty neighborhood is what made this music video successful. It’s simple, it’s creative, and it catches the essence of the group Bear Attack. The song itself makes the video.
Fa n s w e r e e x c i t e d t o s e e what the video would look l i ke . Th e re w e re n o t ea r s involved, no flowers like the lyrics mention, and no mushy gushy scenes. The music video consists of the quintet going around selling ad-space on their golf cart in a deserted neighborhood to unsuccessful entrepreneurs. After following the advertisement, they have great success and at the end of the video no one is broke and everyone is happy and partying in the middle of the street with monopoly flying everywhere.

A SUCCULENT EXPERiENCE 5
COMPILED BY SCHESSA GARBUTT I've killed every succulent I've ever attempted to grow. Things start off well enough, but a few weeks after I bring succulents into my home, they start to look spindly and sad before giving
up and dying. Despite hearing time and again about how foolproof succulents can be, I've never had luck. And I have a hunch that I'm not the only one. Fellow succulent killers,
SUCCESSFUL SUCCULENTS
"Green succulents in the CRASSULA Genus are a dependable option." are you out there? Distraught about my inability to nurture a succulent in my tiny New York apartment, I took advantage of a trip to San Francisco last week to head to that city's succulent mecca, Flora Grubb Gardens, to ask for advice: Why are my succulents dying and how can I stop killing them? First, let's talk about climate. Before wallowing in despair about your inability to keep a succulent alive, it's a good idea to think about the exterior factors that you can't control. Succulents in San Francisco grow like weeds. Succulents are desert plants. They thrive in hot, dry places with plenty of sunshine. It's no surprise that a sun-loving plant doesn't enjoy life in my dimly lit New York apartment. But even if the climate in my small apartment can't mimic the desert, I learned a few rules of thumb
for keeping succulents alive indoors anywhere. As a general rule of thumb, when shopping for succulents to grow indoors, look for the green ones. The greener the succulents that you choose, the greater the chances that they'll survive inside. Green succulents in the Crassula genus are a dependable option. If you prefer the cactus look, agave and aloe plants can also do surprisingly well indoors if placed in a bright window. Part of the appeal of succulents is their variety of colors and shapes. But succulents in the purple and orange color family are really better suited for outdoor spaces. Instead of focusing on having a variety of color, look for green succulents in a variety of shapes. Maybe most important: succulents don't like to be watered very often. The soil should be allowed to dry completely before getting another drink. Planting succulents in unglazed plants can help them to drain completely in between waterings and will prevent them from becoming waterlogged. Article by Erin Boyle
basics
1. Give your indoor succulents as
much natural light as possible. 2. When growing indoors, stick to green varieties. 3. Water your succulents sparingly.

*A paper lantern *Cocktail umbrellas *A light bulb and light cord
ARTS OF CRAFT
COCKTAIL UMBRELLA LANTERN
Step 1
The first thing you want to do is cut the stems off your cocktail umbrellas. You will need about 30-40 umbrellas depending on the size of your umbrellas and lantern. Make sure you pick enough of each color! Open up your lantern and put it in the base so it won’t roll away.
Step 2
Take each of your umbrellas and glue them onto the lantern. Be sure to glue them onto the paper of the lantern, not onto the wire structure. Hold each umbrella snugly against the lantern until the glue dries, then grab another. Keep gluing until your lantern is fully covered.
Step 3
With your scissors, carefully cut around the hole at the top of the lantern so you have room to thread your light bulb and cord inside the lantern. Thread the light bulb and cord through, hang it up, and let the summer nights continue!

The first step is the hardest. The lid has a hole should be where the socket fits through it. Draw a circle therefore first on the cover with the fitting as a template. Then use the nail and hammer to knock the cover holes. Take a tour where you leave some space between the holes first. And then make a second round now and save between holes. The inner part is still stuck hanging but with a well-aimed hammer blow that comes immediately. To watch out for sharp edges. Save your're still working on two additional holes on the left and right side of the lid to the hot air out of the jar to leave you in there lamp.
Insert the fitting through the hole and screw the cap screw from underneath as that goes Sat. Turn the whole not too tightly, otherwise the lamp may be tilting.
Attach the wire with tape and spray the fitting and the cover in the same color for best results. Let dry and you can turn the lamp in and the cover screws on the cup.
Change the mood of your place both in and outdoors now!
4. Now just hang the lamp in the place that you want. The best result is that you hang them at different heights, or hang them all together in a row.
