Choosing the correct plant palette is the ďŹ rst step to a successful vegetated roof. It is important to note your USDA plant zone, sun exposures of the planting area, potential wind exposures, irrigation logistics, and the pitch/ slope of the roof. Time frames and maintenance burden are also key items to consider. Based on these plant characteristics, the correct plant palette can then be chosen. Sedum cuttings can be supplied featuring a multitude of species to create a unique ecosystem speciďŹ c to your project needs.

As the vegetative roofing industry continues to rapidly expand across the United States, its counterpart, the “Green Wall”, has experienced limited success in garnering the same popularity. Reasons for this slower induction into the green infrastructure portfolio of the United States include: tricky installations, substantial maintenance requirements, mortality issues caused by inadequate irrigation, and cost substantiation. Hanging Gardens has put the green wall technology to the test, offering systems that are tried and true in other parts of the world. Through a strong belief that these systems are a valuable asset for the right owner and project, we have pulled together all the right technologies to offer systems with increased production rates, reduced maintenance needs, and include an integrated irrigation system.

This rooftop offers an open space for children to explore their natural surroundings within the cityscape of downtown Madison, as well as a place to bring the community together in education.
