1 COASTAL LANDSCAPE DESIGN

Cua Sot beach landscape project in Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province is expected to be a symbol with great cultural and tourism significance. This will served as a place for entertainment, festivals, and events during beach season to connect the community and attract tourists to promotes local image and boost the economy.

The laNdscape area concludes a pedestrian bridge, a performance stage and a crowded square. The main idea is inspired by the images of salt and pepper which are symbolic to the area.

The highlight of the area is the central symbol of the square, inspired by sea salt crystal. The image of a salt crystal lattice symbolizes the durability and longevity of the salt industry. The cubes represent the persistence and stability in the personality of the salt farmers. The design plan for the “Salt and Wave” square creates a connection between the main landscape area used.

OFFICE INTERIOR

Located in an office building on Le Dai Hanh street, downtown Hanoi. Office A is a typical office for a department with around 18 employees, 2 vice managers and 1 department manager. The interior is designed for employees who stay at the office all-day, so comfort and convenience requirements need to be given the most attention. The walls, ceilings and floors are designed to be minimalist and elegant, limiting colors and materials that cause discomfort. Furniture is selected and arranged appropriately in terms of spacing and material, combined with interior plants to have a good impact on employee morale when working.

RURAL HOUSING

RURAL HOUSING PROJECTS - CHARACTERISTIC HOUSE MODELS BY REGION

Rural architecture and residential architecture in particular in Vietnam are facing many challenges. The risk of environmental and rural landscape degradation, and the hybrid with many forms of urban architecture are gradually moving rural architecture away from the spirit of traditional architecture, culture and identity of each ethnicity and each region.

In that context, the Vietnam Association of Architects has established the research project “Handbook of Rural Architecture”, which collects, selects and researches the design of popular rural housing types for the community and the local architects.

Below are 3 house models that were researched and designed in the first year report of the Project. The 3 house models represent the characteristics of 3 out of the 6 regions in the Vietnam.

Location: Northern Midlands and Mountains, North Central and Central Highlands, Vietnam

Year : 2022 (continued)

HOUSE IN THE NORTHERN MIDLAND AND MOUNTAINOUS AREA

The region is the main residence of 30 ethnic minorities. This is a peaceful, pristine rural area with a clear shift in recent years in economic structure, from agriculture to tourism services. Architecture also has positive changes though the structure of traditional houses and the way of organizing traditional living style are still preserved. Houses are built with sloping roofs made of straw, leaves or local wood. Local wood is also the most popular-used to make walls, columns, floors. Fews are built with bricks.

22

HOUSES IN THE NORTH CENTRAL REGION AND THE CENTRAL COAST

This place is a buffer zone, heavily influenced by modern architecture and traditional architecture of the Red River Delta. Houses are all built on the along side the road. The house’s campus has a brick yard for traditonal production work at home or to place fishing gear during the beach season.

Traditional houses usually have 3-room main houses. The auxiliary house is expanded from the space next to the main house or built vertically perpendicular to the main house. It is used for bedrooms, kitchen, dining while the main house is for receiving guests and the worship room is in the middle of the house. Modern houses have the similar structure and style with urban houses with front garden

24

HOUSES IN THE WESTERN HIGHLANDS

There are many ethnic minorities living in this area. However, their population is decreasing and replaced by Kinh people. The economy development has more difficulties comparing to other areas of the country.

Achitecture here is a mix beteen traditional stilt houses of ethnic minorities, traditional bungalows of the Kinh people and modern tube houses. Traditional stilt houses usually has 5 rooms with 2 narrow wings, There is no clear dividers inside, sometimes causing inconvenience for living in modern multi-generational families. Wood and earth are popular materials.
