NEW VENUE & EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT & INVITATION TO CONSIGN

Dear Artist, I hope 2014 is treating you well so far. I am writing with the good news that, under a new joint venture, my business associate Tani Burns of TBurnsArts and myself have been appointed Art Directors of a new private members club soon to open in the heart of Covent Garden. This we will be doing as part of our newly established arts consultancy, ART NAKED. It is therefore our pleasure to be able to enquire regarding the availability of your artwork for inclusion in a group exhibition at this exclusive new venue. Located opposite the English National Opera on St Martin's Lane, close to Trafalgar Square, the club will be called LIBRARY. Within its fully remodeled premises, designed by 19 Greek Street, Library's uniquely designed interior will conjure a rarefied atmosphere of old-‐world charm within which to set the best of contemporary art in London. The venue will comprise of bars, lounge areas, a restaurant, whiskey and wine room, gymnasium, private function rooms, a terrace and en-‐ suite accommodation -‐ all incorporating the highest quality of service. The soft launch of Library will take place in May 2014, in advance of an official opening later that month. The artwork selection for the opening exhibition will be decided upon over the course of March and April and deliveries of artworks to the club will have arrived at Library at the start of May for arrangement and hanging. The first art-‐collection launch party will take place shortly after the official launch date in mid May. This first curated exhibition is scheduled to hang until late July 2014. CURATION & EVENTS ART NAKED’s scope includes the curation of the entire venue -‐ all public rooms, hallways, and private suites. Alongside curation, ART NAKED will host a unique series of intellectually stimulating liberal arts events, to complement the exhibition schedule. These will include exclusive and ticketed talks, performances, screenings, installations and social gatherings. Additionally, ART NAKED will be overseeing members’ interest societies and other in-‐house activities throughout the year. Other original programming in the annual art schedule will include: art collection launch parties with comprehensive media coverage; curator talks; artist interviews; and periodic social events to include introductions and drinks between artists and gallerists, curators and collectors. The programming will include later opportunities for selected artists to be further involved in freshly curated exhibitions at the club and other projects run by ART NAKED. These include -‐ but are not exclusive to -‐ shows hung at Library and other public spaces for the duration of London’s contemporary art week surrounding the FRIEZE art fair (not affiliated). At Library, we are selecting from a broad range of established and emerging contemporary artists whose work will be part of an ongoing series of exhibitions. Our pre-‐programmed curatorial schedule pivots around four separate hangs within the opening year. We are in contact with a network of artists and gallerists and will be looking for work, which is exciting but also fitting with both Library’s aesthetic and ART NAKED ‘s conceptualization for the show. Please see attached information regarding the development of the Library project. Please note these are artist impressions of the space, which is currently undergoing a full reconstruction and interior design, to be completed by mid-‐April 2014. Having reviewed the information regarding the club, if you are interested in submitting for our artists’ shortlist, please note that works must be available for the duration of the hang (late-‐April – late July). Exceptions will however be considered in exchange for similar work in its place or by pre-‐arrangement. Although we are not working with a budget to buy works on Library's behalf, there is flexibility to have works for sale. Chosen works will not be limited by availability for immediate sale and, although this is preferable, they may include existing sold pieces or art not-‐for-‐sale. Our goal is to provide the most suitably curated exhibition. ART NAKED will be managing the sales portfolio onsite at events to promote the exhibition and the venue. Sale and consignment contracts will be sent to artists as appropriate in due course. In appreciation that an artist may already be tied by representation, we will discuss during the selection process an appropriate tailoring of arrangements for the realization of sales of artworks. This may refer to sales within the club premises, those made through introduction at our pre-‐ planned events, or via club members both on and off-‐site. Unless otherwise stated, ART NAKED will be treating hung works agreed available for sale at a standard gallery rate of 50% commission. Other benefits include guest-‐list invitations to opening events and arts programming, as well as further allowances, by appointment, to visit the club with prospective clients and guests. My colleague and I are more than happy to talk this through in further detail via email, over the telephone, or indeed in person should you have any questions. Further information will be supplied as the selection process is carried forward. I look forward to your thoughts. Best wishes, ANDREW HANCOCK Co-‐Founder | Director.
