Welcome
Another exciting year at Lienetics Ranch, both for our cattle and for our family. This year, our daughter, Sydni, was selected as Angus Ambassador and will travel nationally representing Angus breeders. She follows in the footsteps of her sister, Maci, who was also an Angus Ambassador. We are so proud of all of our kids as they pursue their God given talents. We have entered into a strong, long term partnership with Willer Timber Ridge (“WTR Angus”). Like Lienetics Ranch, this is a family operation run by Ted and Kathy Willer and their son, Josh, herd manager for their program…begun 23 years ago. Bill Rishel introduced the two of us after we had both shown success in having champion bulls at the Midland Bull Test in Montana and had similar professional business backgrounds, and passion for the cattle business and Angus genetics. Lienetics Ranch and WTR have developed and marketed top quality Angus bulls across the country from our herds of nationally prominence. Our partnership offers a broader selection of proven genetics to advance your herd’s performance, carcass quality, and maternal strength…increasing your overall profitability. We add to your profitability thru our ‘buyback assistance’ program and after the sale service!

We are Angus breeders with a program based upon the needs of the progressive commercial cattleman. We will continue to prove our “Bull Maker Moms” by testing their progeny for growth and carcass quality at the toughest competitions in the nation! Strongest way we can provide you with the real confidence to acquire your herd bulls from our joint program. We’ve taken the guess work out of your purchase decision by the years and expense developing elite females and by the selection and evaluation of the bulls included in the sale. The bulls have been performance tested for 85 days. We’ve gone to the extra expense of utilizing the unique ‘Angus GS’ DNA test to enhance the accuracy of the EPD’s, bulls have been ultrasounded, they have been given Breeding Soundness Exams, and we have maintained a premium health program and full set of vaccinations. Look at the “Target the Brand” CAB logo identifying those bulls with greater genetic potential to meet the rigorous standards of the Certified Angus Beef brand and its accompanying premiums at market. AND, we agree with you on the absolute need for structurally sound animals with a good set of feet and legs. We look forward to seeing you on sale day. Be sure and give us a call if you have ANY questions about our offering in the sale. Buy with confidence. We stand ready to assist you with your purchase, before and after the sale.

The Targeting the Brand Logo is designed to highlight the registered Angus sires with greater genetic potential to produce calves meeting the most challenging specifications of the Cerified Angus Beef brand. Bulls that qualifiy for use of the logo should need the Targeting the Brand recommendations of 50th percentile or better for marbling EPD and $Grd of non-parent Angus sires. When choosing sires for your herd, it is important to consider marketing goals in addition to economically relevant traits. Using EPDs, you can select sires to completement your maternal goals without sacrificing the ability to improve carcass merit of calves retained and marketed. With 70% of cattle grading Choice or Prime, the market continues to demand cattle with the genetic ability to gain and grade.

The First Genomic Profle All About Angus.
G E N OM IC ENHA N CEM EN T
When it comes to added consistency in today’s variable market, we have invested additional dollars into the bulls and females you are purchasing for your added benefit. This has been done through genomic (DNA) testing of all the cattle on the sale. Those results have then enhanced the accuracy and value of the related EPD’s on each bull individually to give you as the buyer a more confident and consistent product to purchase, and related progeny results.

OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE AND CARCASS GENETICS SALE
EPDS EXPLAINED We have the following abbreviations throughout this book with regard to EPDs and actual data. $ Values are expressed in terms of real dollars for a combination of related traits. Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. Remember, no EPD is an absolute. It simply allows you to compare genetic differences in sires. $Value indexes, are multi-trait selection indexes to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. $Values are reported in dollars per head, where a higher value is more favorable. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment.
Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. Birth Weight (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the animals ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight (WW), is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Yearling Weight (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compare to other sires Maternal Milk (MILK), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. Carcass Weight (CW), expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Marbling (MARB), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Ribeye area (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Fat thickness (FAT), xpressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Weaned Calf Value $W or API, the expected average difference in future progeny performance for pre-weaning merit, and includes both revenue and cost adjustments. Feedlot Value ($F), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires. Beef Value $B or TI, an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. Actual Birth Weight (ACT BW), the weight of the calf at birth. Adjusted Weaning Weight (ADJ WW), Actual weaning and yearling weights adjusted to a common number of days for proper comparison. Calving Ease Rating, this is my recommendation for exposure based on all relevant factors, for bulls to work on first calf heifers, heifers or cows (added perfomance), and the most profit to cow production and feedlot value.

WW of 783 lbs(no creep), and a 1456 lb. weight on 2/9/18 for an actual WDA of 4.47. Donor dam is the best of the Barbarae cow family, and is one of the greatest of many great Optimum Impact daughters in the herd. This is her natural calf after a flush of that same mating in 2015, and her CI maintained at 361 on 6 calves with WWR of 108. This Advisor son has a unique combination of calving ease, growth and carcass. If you do an EPD search, 66X is the only Hereford animal with this combination of calving ease, weaning and yearling weight, scrotal, REA and MARB. His dam is a freckle-faced M326 daughter that is one of Loewen’s best.
Koehler-Martin Farm is located near Firth, NE. We have a background in commercial cattle but it was our son, Cashel’s purchase of two purebred Polled Hereford heifers that brought us into the seedstock business. Cashel’s original two heifers came from Tegtmeier Polled Herefords, Burchard, NE. These are his 4-H show animals and also his FFA Supervised Ag Experience project. These two dams were bred back to Tegtmeier’s Loewen 502R 28R 66X bull to produce the two bulls for sale today. The Loewen bull is known for easy birthing calves that have tremendous performance. His females and carcass numbers have excelled. Cashel’s two cows (nicknamed Lina and Daisey) are productive, easy calving and good milking animals that are very maternal and have raised strong performing calves year after year.

We don’t often offer our elite females. This year we are excited to offer you the insight and ability to experience what we define and have built as optimum influence females. They are cross section of our replacement pen, and will offer you many opportunities for both show potential and production advancement, as a foundation cow or donor. You will find these females to be ultrafeminine in their type, structurally correct, highly fertile, moderate, efficient, great udders, and raise big calves with minimal input. As well, these females are built for longevity and will have great maternal instincts and value.

MIDLAND BULL TEST
Long T im e Perfo rm er s in t h e Mid la n d Bu ll Te st
Lienetics Ranch and Willer Timber Ridge have placed bulls at the toughest bull tests in the country for over twenty years…Midland Bull Tests (MT) and IBEP (Purdue/IN). Lienetics Ranch had the Champion ADG bull at Midland Bull Test (MT) in 2012 and in a prior test, had the #4 High Gain Sire Group. Willer Timber Ridge had the #2 ADG bull in 2009, #2 ADG get-of-sire in 2010, and the Champion ADG bull, over all breeds, in 2015. WTR has also had the #1 Performance index bull and #1 carcass merit bull at the IBEP (Purdue/IN) bull test in 2016. For over a decade, our two programs have consistently been in the top tier of performance at both of these highly competitive and highly respected bull tests, and sold to renowned ranches such as Vermilion, Wagonhamer, and Krebs. We are Angus breeders with a program…based upon the needs of the progressive commercial cattleman. We will continue to prove our “Bull Maker Moms” by testing their progeny for growth, feed efficiency, and carcass quality at the toughest competitions in the nation! This year at Midland we have combined for seven (7) bulls on test that are prospects to sale April 6. You can view these bulls at midlandbulltest.com and can find them by the lot numbers shown on the bulls below. If you have questions or further interest, please contact Trevor (402-560-5385) or Ted (765-721-0420). We can assist with your purchase and delivery.

We were looking for a calving ease optimum impact bull with outcross genetics, great looks, muscle, performance and carcass values. We came across this bull on-side of his dam at Barstow’s on the 2016 NE Angus Tour, and knew he required pursuit. Then as a yearling, based on his maternal prowess, performance, structure, and genomics, and terrific carcass scan, we knew we needed to own him. For a calving ease bull, he exhibits mass, performance, and the shape of a power bull. He has great feet and legs, moves like a cat, and is just sheer fun to be around. Atlas has a unique pedigree with a “optimum” set of performance EPDs and $Values. I think there is a world of opportunity for this bull to carry into our program and others. The combination of pedigree, phenotype, epd’s, $values, and genomics is unreal in my mind. Although nothing extreme, I think they are an exceptional combination and provide valued improvement in every aspect of the beef industry, and are here to stay for the long haul. He is extremely docile(was wondering if too much), but I have found him to be very hard working and active breeder. He is constantly checking individual females. He also collected high quality semen very well on a couple of single day jumps. We pulled Atlas after 45 days with 25 wet twos and then 30 days with 25 late cows. He weighed in at 1600 lbs and 54 inch hip height for a frame score of 6.0 in August of his yearling breeding season. The calves born to date represent his unparalleled calving ease, wide-based structure, and muscle expression. We look forward to more to come and your ability to use with great confidence. He is cool and destined to be a great one!
