A little about myself Hello! My name is Hannah Gutierrez and I am a junior in the Interior Design (BSD) Program at Arizona State University. I’m a lover of light, dreamer of pretty things, and eater of many doughnuts. I grew up in sunny Arizona, which made me hate the heat but grow fond of the desert. I am a forever student, constantly seeking to learn new things each day.

I am passionate about giving spaces new life and creating intimate moments within a grander experience. My interest lies in creating a journey for the user with many destinations along the way. One of my favorite quotes is from Erik Adigard who said “Design is in everything we make, but it’s also between those things.” This reminds me that the transitions

are just as important as the destinations. I believe that the design community has the ability to transform someone’s day and create extraordinary experiences. When I’m not working on design projects, I enjoy reading, running, traveling, playing with my nephews, going to concerts, and learning new things.

The design problem: a retail store, gallery and showroom for Benjamin Moore Paints. The specific context for the design project was an industrial building on Grand Avenue in downtown Phoenix, in the heart of the Grand Avenue Arts District. Analyze the physical and cultural context of the existing building fabric, study the needs of the user and renovate the space to allow for Benjamin Moore paints to sell and market their product. POS
