Meet the Author

Instructions

I’m Hannah Duncan and I am the author of this eBook, “The Animal Parade”. I am an Early Education major at Indiana University and hope to be a kindergarten teacher someday. This is my first eBook and I am very happy I got to have this experience, as I think interactive activities like this are very effective learning tools. The standard this book fulfills is SCI.K.3.1 2010: Observe living organisms, compare and contrast their characteristics, and ask questions about them. This would be a great book to introduce animals to preschool to kindergarten aged children.

The animals are on parade today!

1 3

The first one is the

biggest

in line. She’s grey and her nose looks like a vine.

Elephants use their trunks to eat. Can you imagine using your nose to grab a treat?

Erase the question mark (?) to see what animal it is!

2 4

The next animal on deck has a l o n g, long neck. A giraffe’s tongue’s length is almost two feet. Stick out yours and see if you’ve got his beat!

3 5

The next ones up are birds who can’t fly. But that’s okay, because they’re wearing bow-ties. Just like people, not all penguins look the same. Press on this image and match the ones that look alike in this fun game!

4 6

A mane is the fur around a lion’s face. Click on the image and help him put his hair in place!

The next animal marching is a huge kitty. He likes to keep his hair really neat and pretty.

5 7

Look at that monkey strumming that guitar. It must be because she has hands just like ours!

Monkeys love eating fruits as healthy snacks. To help a monkey who lost her banana, click on the picture to retrace her tracks!

6 8

Look at how the flamingos are standing below. Lift up one of your feet and give it a go!

7

The next animal is using his twiggy legs to strut his stuff. He looks a lot like a fluffy, pink cream puff. 9

Last but not least, the turtle crawls along. He’s finishing our parade slow, steady, and strong!

Some turtle shells are square like a box or round like a bowl. Either way, turtles can’t roll!

8 10

Watch a video of this parade and pay attention to which animals you see.

Now, click the animals below to take a quiz to see how well you did!

9 11

Hooray, hooray, hooray! The animals were on parade today!

Click on the fireworks to make some of your own!
