FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Hanover College Alumni and Friends, It would be no exaggeration to say these past 18 months have been strange, challenging and surreal. Not in my lifetime, nor many of yours, have we experienced the confluence of recent events. Although we are all tired of hearing the word “COVID,” I would be remiss not to discuss the impact the pandemic has had on the College. Shifting rapidly – and successfully – to remote instruction in the spring of 2020 took Herculean effort from our faculty, staff and students. We spent the summer of 2020 preparing for a face-to-face return to fall term, which we were able to do with much success. Students returned excited to be back on campus, even though things were certainly a little different. Although many in-person events had to be canceled, we embraced technology as never before and offered numerous opportunities for students and alumni to engage with Hanover in creative ways. Commencement for the Class of 2021 occurred in person at Alumni Stadium and included a special Commencement for 2020 graduates, who missed out on their ceremony one year before. Through it all, we have much to celebrate as a community. With resiliency, creativity and generosity, Hanover College employees and students rose to the occasion and answered the call to create a new, but familiar, normal. Acts of kindness, demonstrations of patience and words of encouragement were commonplace this past year and a half – I would daresay more commonplace than ever before. You, our alumni and friends, have stood by Hanover College in ways that amazed us all. As this report shows, giving and alumni participation increased last year, even as many of you dealt with the effects of the pandemic on a personal level. In fact, 2020 was one of the biggest years of giving in school history! As president, I am deeply grateful and humbled by the affection each of you has for Hanover College. We are poised to be in a strong position as the College approaches its bicentennial in 2027. I am excited and optimistic about our future – an attitude that is sustained by each of you. Thank you,

The 1827 Society is our planned giving society and it recognizes donors who have made provisions for future gifts to the College through their wills, annuities, life insurance, pensions, or trusts.
