WONDERWOOD COLLECTION
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Dutch luxury fashion house Viktor & Rolf, The Kunsthal in Rotterdam presented a large exhibition in collaboration with the Dutch designers and Canadian curator Thierry-Maxime Loriot.

For the past 25 years, the collaboration between Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren has led to works of uncompromising beauty. Throughout their illustrious career Viktor & Rolf have constantly pushed the boundaries between art and fashion. Their designs contrast romanticism and rebellion, exuberance and control, classicism and conceptualism. All mannequins as seen in the exhibition were specially designed and customised by Hans Boodt Mannequins. Photo credits: Team Peter Stigter. Kunsthal Rotterdam, 2018.

Backside, Fashion from behind. What does fashion and its creators such as Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Schiaparelli, Alaïa, Martin Margiela and Olivier Theyskens have to say about this part of our body? How, from the 18th century costume to the present day, has the back been treated or abused, sublimated or forgotten, hindered or protected? Curated by Alexandre Samson (Palais Galliera Paris) and Caroline Esgain (Fashion and Lace Museum Brussels) with the support of Hans Boodt Mannequins. Photos © Paris Musées, Pierre Antoine

M A R T I N M A R G I E L A We are very proud of the official partnership we have concluded with one of the ‘must see’ exhibitions of 2018; Margiela / Galliera, 19892009 Held at Palais Galliera, the Paris Museum of Fashion, this was the first retrospective ever dedicated to the Belgian designer who left an indelible mark on the industry through his conceptual and innovative work. Our teams have shown a high degree of flexibility in order to satisfy all wishes of the Galliera’s artistic team under the direction of Martin Margiela himself. More than 150 models were selected among the Hans Boodt Mannequins collections and delivered in less than 3 weeks. Two thirds of them have been customized either functionally or esthetically. And a selection of mannequins was even remodeled directly by the Master who painted on them. “Couture isn’t about reality or wearability, it is freedom of thinking, my atelier, like a lab, is a place of discovery and development. After which a new journey begins to translate my couture to clothing for women.” – Jan Taminiau

On September 1st, 2018, the World Museum in Rotterdam opened the exhibition ‘POWERMASK – The Power of Masks’ with Walter van Beirendonck as curator and our mannequins to support the presentation. POWERMASK is an exhibition that stimulates the senses. Walter van Beirendonck takes visitors to very different worlds in which the mask plays a role, from traditional use in a range of cultures to the source of inspiration that masks represent in the international art and fashion world.
