03Rebuild Yinma alley
District Analysis What are concerned about?
With the rapid development of Chinese society, we should focus on the ancient people. For example, in Yinma lane of Nanjing, there are a number of houses handed down from Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Why do we choose Yinma lane of Nanjing?
Yinma lane has a long history. It has a well preserved old residential street and a complete street mechanism. It is one of the few complete ancient residential settlements.
The original site of the ancient dwellings is inside the Nanjing Forbidden City, so it retains the urban texture very well.
These make Yinma Lane one of the wellpreserved old town in Nanjing. However, due to the rapid development of society, the infrastructure of Yinmaxiang has long failed to meet the pace of life of modern people.
This task is to transform an old town.Yinma Lane located on Qinhuai District, Nanjing,Named by the Emperor of the Song Dynasty whose horse drank here.Today, this old town needs to betransformed into a new town. Our concept is opening, which makes this closed lane open.To make it simple is introducing sunlight and placing the platform.

First Floor about 70% Second Floor about 25% First Floor about 5%
Because of the special existence of old town, large-scale reconstruction can not be carried out in the process of transformation. Therefore, in order to improve the living environment, the concept of indemnificatory housing will be introduced, and its original area will be retained to change the living conditions as much as possible. 2

Inside the base, there is open outdoor space between the corridor and the building, and there is also plenty of gray space under the corridor. The teaching building in front of the business can be seen from the entrance of the base. The zigzag exterior wall form and the dense and dense glass curtain wall add vitality to the overall building while creating more grey space in the building.
