High & welcome back Happy Munkey Family to the latest installment of Munkey Munchies! This month’s pick goes out to my Wake & Bakers, my true breakfast enthusiasts; I am talking about none other than Greenberg’s Bagels. As a born and bred New Yorker one thing I take seriously is bagels, and I can confidently say the people at Greenberg’s deliver! They take making exceptional bagels one step further by crafting arguably one of the best bagel sandwiches in NYC. With menu items like “The SmokedDZA Benedict” it is clear Greenberg’s is for the kulture. This bagel shop has gone so far as collabing with New York Nico, Sidetalk NYC, Cinematic Group, Dee & Ricky, Morgansterns and Happy Munkey Fam Mikey Likes It!

I started my day with a healthy Wake & Bake of hash rosin and then headed to Bedford Avenue right off the G train. I had the inside scoop and knew Greenberg’s had adapted to the “new normal” of Covid, requiring all orders to be placed online. So I placed my order on the subway ride over and timed my pickup almost perfectly. I ordered the Brooklyn Ang (fried eggs, cheddar, hash-brown, avocado, mayo, ketchup, and Mike’s Hot honey) on an everything bagel, and my high ass couldn’t help but add sausage too. When my order was ready at the takeout counter, I wasted no time and busted that bad boi open! High or not the added sausage was a movie and the entire sandwich exceeded my expectations!

I haven’t had the pleasure of trying any of their savory lunch / dinner sandwiches but seeing how masterfully they put together breakfast I am certain there isn’t a thing on their menu that doesn’t ring bells like Church at 12’Oclock! Don’t sleep on the Mike’s Hot Honey and make sure to head to Brooklyn to get you some Greenberg’s Bagels ASAP!
