important gold information leaders How does AML/CFT affect me?

ne Meyer Ja

New Legislation in the Real Estate Industry The Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 – or “AML”, as it is more commonly known, is part of a worldwide initiative to crack down on illegal activities, including money laundering and terrorism.

A

Criminals have been known to use banks, lawyers, accountants and real estate agents to help hold and move assets. The new legislation is aimed at detecting and ultimately deterring this activity.

Explanation of terms

BROUGHT FORWARD If a vendor accepts a pre-auction offer, the auction may be “brought forward” and the preauction offer will be the first bid at the auction.

ON THE MARKET AT When bidding reaches an acceptable price and the vendor is ready to sell the property at that price, it is said to be “on the market”.

01. Rugs and Blankets Floors can account for as much as 10% of home heat loss. An affordable (and stylish!) way to mitigate this is through placing down rugs and blankets where practical.

02. Thermal Curtains Up to 25% of heat loss in your home can come from uninsulated windows. Insulated curtains can provide an extra barrier to radiant heat loss by adding insulation and reducing drafts.

03. Heat Pumps Heat pumps are a winter staple for keeping the chill at bay. Book yours in for a tune-up to help maximise efficiency, a well maintained unit will also run longer.

04. Draft-stoppers Anywhere that lets in a draft allows precious heat to escape. Seal gaps under doors with draftstoppers, they’ll prevent air from seeping in from the outside and into living and sleeping areas.
