GOLD COMMENT
Interestingly, the volume of sales for this September was 10% higher compared to September last year, indicating there is still solid demand within our city for property
JIM DAVIS BUSINESS DEVELOPEMENT MANAGER HARCOURTS GOLD
The Christchurch property market is currently still showing strong steady sales figures according to the REINZ sales data. The current latest figures show for the month of September 594 sales of Residential properties and sections within the Christchurch Metro area. This figure is just up slightly from the previous months and is a typical lift the market experiences with the start of warmer weather. For September this volume of sales was10% higher compared to September last year, indicating there is still solid demand within our city for property. When the October details are released my expectation is that this demand will not have slowed, and this is based on the activity we are seeing currently around our listed property. Open home numbers are still strong, there is more property coming available on the market, and the transparency of the sales
process now is giving people great confidence to get on with their lives and whatever it is they want to do. Here at Harcourts gold, our consultants have continued to perform at the highest level. Over September while the REINZ data showed the 10% lift as mentioned above, our consultants here at Gold Real Estate showed a 22% lift in sales performance compared to September last year. While that extra volume of business is great for us, it has also lead to outstanding results for our buyers and sellers. As with any well-run, well resourced, professional team, you would expect our results to be better than the average. The particular secret to our success is our auction emphasis, we are known as a company that supports and promotes the auction system, and your presence here today is testament to that. With an active market such as Christchurch is experiencing at the moment, the Auction system is by
far and away the best and fairest method to sell/ buy a property. You can see the bidding unfold and the process (admittedly a little stressful) and the transparency of it lets you know exactly where you stand. Some of the other “smoke and mirror type options can leave you feeling a little deflated. We are now into November and as mentioned it is evident that there is a lot more property available in the market and our consultants are still experiencing huge interest and activity at their open homes. So I expect the final October results when released to be equally as strong. If you would like to experiences some the strength, teamwork, gold culture and a successful result for your property sale, call one of our Harcourts gold consultants today. Having some of the best in the business selling your property simply gets you the results you require.

GOLD NEWS
Opening soon!
HARCOURTS GOLD INTERNATIONAL & MIGRANT DIVISION The world is on the move, and we are seeing this regularly reported by media outlets globally. New Zealand is on the list as one of the most sort after countries for potential immigrants to look at, our Education system and our facilities rank highly in the area of desirability for families looking to a better life somewhere else. In earlier years our immigration was from what we called the “old “countries” United Kingdom, Ireland etc., now however we are seeing a shift with a growing percentage of our migrants coming from what is now termed the “new countries” While Auckland has accounted for over half of the country’s population growth, other areas including Christchurch are attracting plenty of attention in their own right. The
rebuild has certainly brought a large number of immigrants into our city, but we must remember even before the earthquakes our schools, tertiary education facilities, new business opportunities and lifestyle options had always been attractive to overseas migrants.
skills in not only Real Estate but also with a range of language abilities, and access to services to assist our new migrants get established. Additionally we are able to facilitate those people looking to purchase around the South Island and make their transition a bit smoother.
With Christchurch once again seen as a golden opportunity for families looking to come to New Zealand, Harcourts Gold has taken the initiative and opened its own specific international and migrant division dedicated to assisting, and helping new immigrants from Asian communities get settled in our beautiful city. With the opening of this new division we are able to offer a dedicated office environment, consultants with a great range of
Offering this service to new immigrants, means that Harcourts Gold presents a wonderful opportunity to anyone looking to sell in Christchurch. When you offer your property for sale with Harcourts gold not only do you have access to our high performing team, but your property is available to be quoted by our specialist International team as well.
NEW ZEALAND’S CHANGING FACE
New Zealand is experiencing a demographic shift, with its recent population surge demonstrating that it’s a country worth staying in or returning and migrating to. The changing face of New Zealand, which is noticeably more diverse, also shows that skilled and educated immigrants targeted by the government are keen to take advantage of what the country has to offer. Auckland has accounted for half of New Zealand’s population growth since 2006 and census data shows the number of Aucklanders born overseas is more than 500,000. This has caused the New Zealand
government to change its immigration policy to encourage migrants to settle outside Auckland. According to the latest census data, New Zealand’s Asian population has almost doubled in size since 2001 and is now around 12 per cent. Hindi is now the fourth most common language in New Zealand, after English, Maori and Samoan. While the population is growing, fears of overpopulation are probably unfounded. To put things in perspective, the UK is a similar size to New Zealand but boasts a population 14 times larger. MINDFOOD
INTERNATIONAL BUYER CONNECTIONS Nowadays connection to the rest of the world is paramount. Harcourts Gold via our own connections and our association with Harcourts International can promote your property to the world. With 790 offices in eight countries and over 5200 other consultants
to assist us we can maximise your opportunity to sell. Let us tailor a unique international package for you. As one of the only real estate companies streaming our auctions live we offer a service to both our sellers and buyers overseas.
