World Cup finals in Val di Sole The weekend of Comezzadura was really a great show for the large crowd who came to see the event, where Merida Italia Team was present with its athletes Under 23, and positioned close to the "Teams Elite" in the paddock. The DH races of Saturday, fortunately conducted with sunny weather, are those that have registered record turnout of spectators, but also the XC races of Sunday have not been outdone.
The start for the riders of Merida Italia Team was given as usual in 2015 stages of the World Cup at 9.00 am on Sunday, and all athletes have started the race worried by the rain fall overnight, but already from the early stages of the race the track did not seem particularly hard for the athletes, and the five Under 23 of the Team appeared well and able to battle with their high level opponents. At the end of the second lap Gioele Bertolini has passed in 12th place, started from the second row, while his mates Lorenzo Samparisi, Stefano Valdrighi and Alessandro Naspi, each started with a number over seventy, have became the protagonists of a great recovery, passing everybody in the first thirty of the group. The only one who appeared lackluster was unfortunately Mattia Setti, who however has the merit of having honored the race and the jersey, clenching his teeth and completing the race. During the second half of the race, Gioele lost positions and precious time due to a puncture and a couple of crashes, recovering the hit only in the final stages of the race and concluding
in 47th place. Stefano continued his remarkable recovery up to the 13th position, having to then recover back due to a mechanical trouble at the rear wheel, and finishing in 17th place. Alessandro Naspi has fight well in the second half of the race, still recovering positions and finishing in 33rd place. Lorenzo Samparisi is unfortunately ran into mechanical problems that have relegated him to 104th place, while Mattia Setti honors however the race closing in 90th position. The World Cup 2015 is ended and the conclusions from the staff of Merida Italia Team are quite simple: at the beginning of the season the goal was the increasing of the performance of the athletes in the international arena, and is thought to have hit the target.
