Collector's Reissues in gatefold mini-LP sleeve with printed inner sleeve, digitally remastered, limited edition. Elemental Music proudly announces the ultimate edition of one of the most acclaimed records in the history of Soul music: People ... Hold On, the second album by former Temptations’ vocalist Eddie Kendricks which was originally released in the Spring of 1972 on the Tamla imprint of Motown Records. This sensational release was a concept album dedicated to black America, addressing the truth of African-American life and aspiration in this time of social and personal change. The Third Decade ONE FOR ALL At a time when jazz bandleaders from across the musical and generational spectrums regularly lament the difficulty of keeping a band together, it’s all the more remarkable that a supergroup like One For All has stuck it out for twenty years. But this impeccably swinging sextet, made up of some of the most in-demand players in modern jazz, is not just celebrating past achievements but charging forward into the future. Their new recording, The Third Decade, marks the dawn of the band’s next chapter. Their 16th release, The Third Decade, is their first in five years and the first in history to feature original compositions by all six members. The Third Decade brings together once again tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, trumpeter Jim Rotondi, trombonist Steve Davis, pianist David Hazeltine, bassist John Webber, and drummer Joe Farnsworth. As always, the fiery and soulful musicianship is only matched by the warmth and spirit that results from a lifetime of musical friendships.

Back to Back / Side by Side + 15 Bonus Tracks

DUKE ELLINGTON & JOHNNY HODGES The complete Duke Ellington/Johnny Hodges small group albums Back to Back (Verve MGV-8317) and Side by Side (Verve 8345). The first is fully dedicated to the blues form and, in addition to Duke’s own playing, showcases his veteran sideman Johnny Hodges. Side by Side was a continuation of Back to Back in that it presented the extant tunes from those sessions, plus another small group date featuring Hodges with Roy Eldridge, Ben Webster, Lawrence Brown and Billy Strayhorn. As a bonus, we have added nine bonus tracks from Ellington’s sessions recorded during the same period, all of which prominently feature both Hodges and the blues (rounding out Back to Back), as well as six tracks from Hodges’ following session following the one with Ben Webster from Side by Side, which presents a very similar personnel and format and rounds out the second CD.

Blue Lights + BONUS ALBUM: On View at the Five Spot Café

KENNY BURRELL All of the existing material from the session originally issued on two LP volumes as Blue Lights (Blue Note BST-81596/97), both of which boasted stellar covers designed by Andy Warhol. The date featured guitarist Kenny Burrell leading a septet (on some tracks reduced to a smaller format) showcasing brilliant soloists, among them tenor saxophonist Tina Brooks. The splendid tenor was one of many ill-fated jazzmen. Between 1958 and 1961 he would record a number of superb LPs, either as a leader or participating on other musicians’ dates. However, due to personal problems, Brooks would stop recording in early 1961 and wouldn’t be heard from again prior to his death in 1974, at the age of 42.

FRANK SINATRA LIMITED EDITION CLASSIC LPs 180 gram VINYL – AUDIOPHILE PRESSING INCLUDES FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD

Label: Jazz Wax File Under: Jazz Catalogue No: JWR4574 Barcode: 8436559460750 Price: FULL PRICE Format: 1 LP

The music on this album, recorded in April 1953, marks the definitive moment in Frank Sinatra’s comeback after his career appeared to have come to a close in 1952. This was an extremely difficult period for the singer, both personally and professionally. Musical tastes had changed, rock & roll was emerging and many felt that Sinatra had become passé, a product of an earlier period with nothing more to contribute to popular music. However, ending a longtime musical relationship with Axel Stordahl – who was responsible for most of his previous orchestrations – Frank chose to try his luck with another celebrated composer and arranger: Nelson Riddle. This proved a wise decision as Riddle’s arrangements, heard on the present release and on multiple others, gave the singer’s music a more modern approach. Bye Bye Blackbird JOHN COLTRANE LIMITED EDITION CLASSIC LPs 180 gram VINYL – AUDIOPHILE PRESSING INCLUDES FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD By 1962, the John Coltrane Quartet with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones was a solid musical unit. In mid-November of that year the quartet began a new European tour. Fortunately, many concerts from that tour were recorded by local radio stations and devoted fans. The music on this release comes from the performance given by the group at the Konserthuset, in Stockholm, Sweden, on November 19, 1962, a venue familiar to Trane, who had already performed there on March 22, 1960 during his last gig as a member of the Miles Davis Quintet.
