GLOSSARY OF TERMS Almost Alumnae Luncheon The Harpeth Hall Alumnae Association sponsors a luncheon honoring the Senior class and their mothers (special friends) in May. This fun and nostalgic event kicks-off the end of the year festivities.

College T-shirt Day Seniors are allowed to wear the T-shirt of the college they plan to attend along with their plaid skirt on May 11, 2018.

College Visits Seniors are allowed three days of excused absences to visit colleges. Parents should email the student’s primary College Counselor, including the day the student will be absent, and the name of the college(s) she will visit. The College Counselor will then give the student the College Visit Absence Form, which must be signed by all teachers and turned in to Ms. Stockdale before the trip.

Exam Exemptions Seniors who have a 90% average grade for the entire year (or in some cases for the second semester in a full-year course) and are recommended for exemption by the teacher may be exempt from their final spring examination. Seniors with excessive absences (more than five class periods per semester) will not be exempt from spring exams, regardless of their grade in a course.

Graduation Celebration This is an off-site overnight party sponsered by the Senior parents for graduating Seniors from 11 p.m. on Monday, May 28 until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29. Parents willing to volunteer should contact the Senior Parent chairs.

Prom Presentation Seniors are presented during prom presentation by the person of their choice.

Senior House Located between the Massey Wing of the Upper School and Souby Hall, the Senior House is decorated, maintained, and used by the current Senior class.

Senior Off Campus Lunch Once a month, Seniors are allowed to dress up and go off campus during lunch. No inappropriate casual clothes will be allowed.

Senior Privileges During second semester, after Winter Formal, Seniors may be granted the privilege of leaving campus early or coming late based on their schedule. Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing to receive this privilege. Written parental permission is required for a senior to leave before the end of the school day.

Senior Recognition Breakfast Seniors arrive at 7:15 a.m. on Senior Recognition Day to enjoy breakfast on the Senior patio, courtesy of the Harpeth Hall Parents Association (HHPA). Parents willing to bring food for the breakfast should contact the Senior class moms.

WHITE DRESSES White Dresses* White dresses are worn as a long established tradition at the Senior Recognition Assembly, Step Singing, and Graduation. The emphasis is on the girls and the ceremony, not the dresses. Dresses should be simple, and hopefully not a major expense. We hope the girls will consider wearing the same white dress to more than one event. Please know that girls often borrow a white dress. *Any student who is unable to follow these guidelines due to religious, cultural, or personal reasons, may speak with one of our counselors or the division director so that accommodations may be considered.

Senior Recognition Assembly (September 15) On the day of Senior Recognition Assembly, all Seniors wear a white dress (no shorter than 3 inches above the top of the knee) and shoes or sandals, which are white or neutral in color. No strapless dresses, unless covered by a white sweater, and no plunging necklines.

Step Singing (May 27) Seniors wear a white dress (knee-length or longer) or white skirt (knee-length or longer) and white blouse. Students must also wear shoes or sandals, which are white or neutral in color. No strapless dresses, unless covered by a white sweater, and no plunging necklines.

Graduation (May 28) Seniors wear a white dress (ankle or floor length). Students are asked to also wear shoes or sandals, which are white or neutral in color. No plunging necklines. The Seniors carry roses provided by Harpeth Hall.
