Where a Scholarship is awarded, a fee remission of £1000 per annum will be granted for Year 7 and Year 9 pupils, rising to £1500 per annum for Sixth Form pupils
What is a Scholarship? A Wisbech Grammar School Scholarship is an award recognising a very high level of achievement in a competitive examination or assessment. It carries the title ‘Scholar’ and includes financial support.
Types of Scholarship Academic: Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the very strongest academic performance assessed by the entrance exam or internal exam and supported by predicted grades, interview and by references from the Head of the child’s current school. All-Rounder: All-Rounder Scholarships are awarded on the basis of strong academic performance and are intended to enable any boy or girl of outstanding all-round ability and leadership to benefit from an education at Wisbech Grammar School.

Entry points and how to apply There are three entry points: Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12. To apply for a Scholarship, you will need to register your child for admission using the Registration Form and paying the ÂŁ95 Registration Fee.
Our Scholars will be expected to maintain high standards of attainment and engagement in their academic work whilst demonstrating commitment to those activities that enrich school life
To apply for Year 7 and 9: Once registered, you can apply for a Scholarship for your Year 6 or Year 8 son or daughter any time up to Friday 25 November 2016. They will be invited to sit an entrance exam comprising Maths and English papers. They will also be invited for a meeting with the Headmaster during which scholarships can be explored. If your child meets the Scholarship requirements, they will be invited to our Scholarship assessment week, commencing Monday 23 January 2017.
To apply for Year 12: Once registered, you can apply for a Scholarship for your Year 11 son or daughter any time up to Friday 25 November 2016. Entry into the Sixth Form will be on the basis of academic references and GCSE predictions. Pupils wishing to be considered for a Sixth Form Scholarship will be required to sit an essay based exam and have an interview during Scholarship assessment week, Monday 23 January 2017.

They will also be expected to attend academic based extra-curricular activities and enrichment lectures and serve as role models for other pupils.

The Scholarship assessment is an opportunity for candidates to demonstrate their broader knowledge and their ability to discuss and debate their views
Requirements and Assessment Academic Scholarships Academic Scholarships are awarded following further assessment on the basis of the very strongest academic performance. It is an opportunity for candidates to demonstrate their broader knowledge and their ability to discuss and debate their views. Year 7 Scholarship candidates will be interviewed by the Headmaster and the Deputy Head Academic, where they will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and enthusiasm for topics and subjects around the curriculum and beyond. Year 9 Scholarship candidates will be invited to take part in an assessment in English and Maths. Sixth Form Scholarship candidates will be invited to take part in an assessment which consists of writing an essay, chosen from a list of essay titles. The award of an Academic Scholarship would be dependent on the candidate achieving a very high standard in their GCSE exams. All Scholarship candidates are interviewed by the Headmaster and the Deputy Head Academic. Candidates’ school reports and references will also be considered.

Requirements and Assessment
Music Those pupils who show musical potential may be awarded All-Rounder Scholarships. Year 7 candidates are expected to have Grade 5 or higher in at least one instrument and Year 9 candidates will have reached at least Grade 6. A Year 12 candidate will have either achieved Grade 8 in their first instrument or have the potential to achieve that standard during the Sixth Form.
All-Rounder Scholarships All-Rounder Scholarships will be awarded to pupils on the basis of strong academic performance and a significant contribution to school life through Art, Drama, Music or Sport. The All-Rounder assessment will include an interview with the Headmaster and a practical assessment in their chosen area. Drama All-Rounder Scholarships are designed to reward those who can demonstrate notable success in, and an aptitude for, drama. Applicants are likely to have made a notable recent contribution to drama at their present school or in wider dramatic activities.
Sport All-Rounder Scholarships will be awarded to those children making a significant contribution in Sport. They will be competing at a high standard in their chosen sport and at A-team level in other sports. Elite Sports Performance Programme Sports Scholars will automatically be entered into our Elite Sports Performance Programme. This has been developed to provide enhanced and extended support for the School’s talented aspiring athletes. The programme includes additional workshops, performance tracking and mentoring sessions covering nutrition, sports physiotherapy, sports psychology, fitness and conditioning.

Art All-Rounder Scholarships are available for budding artists who show great potential within the field of art and design. This can take the form of outstanding abilities, evidence of a creative and inventive mind at work and an interest in the world of art around you. 10 I

The Bursary fund provides financial assistance for pupils, allowing them to achieve their full potential
What is a Bursary Award? The Governors have set up a bursary fund that has made it possible to provide financial assistance to pupils who would not otherwise be able to take up the offer of a place, allowing them to achieve their full potential. Bursaries are means tested and will require the parents to make a detailed statement of their income and assets. Awards range from 5% to 85%. In exceptional cases an award of 100% may be granted. Bursaries are awarded on an individual basis and may be awarded alongside a Scholarship. upils awarded Bursaries will be expected to maintain P high standards of achievement and engagement in their academic work whilst demonstrating commitment to those activities that enrich School life including Art, Drama, Music and Sport.
How to apply Once you have registered your child for entry please ask a member of the Admissions Team about Bursaries. At this point you will be asked to complete and return a Bursary application form. A Bursary Panel meets to review applications, but they will only be presented once the entrance assessment process has been completed. Further Information To experience what Wisbech Grammar School has to offer you and your child we welcome individual visits where you will have a tour of the School and meet the Headmaster. The next step is to register for admission using the Registration Form. We will then arrange a taster day for your child to join a class and experience life as a pupil followed by an entrance exam or assessment. If you believe you will require assistance with the fees, you can request a Bursary application pack which can be submitted once you have registered for entry and paid the registration fee.
