General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. INSPECTION - The Sale Sheep will be available for inspection at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Thursday 29th August 4.00pm to 7.00pm and the morning of the sale. Prior inspection of the sheep is most welcome by appointment with the vendor (see page 1). HOTELS - There are many hotels within the area, ranging from four star to excellent Bed and Breakfast accommodation, a list of which may be found in the catalogue. CONDITIONS OF SALE - Sold under the conditions of sale reccommend by the Livestock Auctioneers Association. METHOD OF SALE - All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers. COMMISSIONS - The Auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions. SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK - Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of Sale. No animal may leave the Sale Premises without an official ‘Pass Slip’, obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement. MAEDI VISNA - All sheep are MV accredited.

MILLSIDE FLOCK Welcome to our Second Production Sale of Blue Texels held this year in conjunction with the Beili Blues Flock. The Millside Flock was established in 1999 and is now a well-recognised flock in the UK. Following our very successful sale here in Carlisle in 2011 we are again pleased to present a further consignment of well-bred progeny from our top quality ewes providing another opportunity for both previous and new purchasers to acquire genuine stock which will go on and do well in any flock. Our well known and noted Stock Ram, CRC/06/007M Craigalbert has over the years proven to be a top class breeder having sired many Champions at Society Sales at both Builth Wells and Carlisle and also the sire of the top priced Shearling Ewe, Ewe Lamb and Ram Lamb at our first Production Sale selling to 2600, 2000 and 1800gns respectively. Other Sires used in the flock include DJA/08/3542/O Millside and also Ram Lambs purchased in 2012 from the Beili Blues, Sams and Viewforth flocks. We would like to thank all previous as well as new purchasers and wish them success with the sheep in the future. Also we would like to give our thanks to William Linton and his team for their help in preparing the stock for today’s sale. Reference to Sires: CRC/06/007M Craigalbert - This long stylish ram was purchased as a ram lamb at the Society Sale at Skipton in 2006. He has proven to be a top class breeder having sired the Female Champions at Society Sales at both NSA Builth Wells and Carlisle in 2009 and also the Champion Ewe at Carlisle Society Sale in 2010. He was also the sire of many of the top priced Lots at our 2011 Production Sale. Many other females and rams have been sold, with many quality ewes retained in the flock. A large number of sheep offered in the sale are sired by this very successful ram. JOJ/07/4701N Jonsland - A tremendous ram with a great skin and back end – he was purchased privately from Dan and Janine Jones as a ram lamb when he won the Male and Overall Blue Texel Championship at the Royal Welsh Show in 2007. He was the sire of the Overall Champion at the NSA Builth Wells Society Sale in 2009, the sire of the Male and Reserve Champion at the Carlisle Society Sale in 2010 and also the sire of the top priced ewe lamb at Carlisle in 2010 and the sire of Shearling Ewes to 1500gns at our 2011 Production Sale - a proven breeder of quality stock. Two daughters (Lots 838 and 848) and two sons (Lots 886 and 887) are included in the sale.
26101-01358 (Import) - This ram was purchased as a Shearling Ram from Holland in 2004 – a ram with tremendous conformation. Many rams and females sired by him have been sold as well as some top class females being retained in the flock. Although now dead, he is being used by AI on selected females within the flock. DJA/08/3542/O Millside - A home bred ram with a tremendous skin and conformation. Bred out of one of the best ewes in the flock, he was sired by Jonsland (JOJ/07/4701N) and was sold to Dan and Janine Jones for 1200gns after winning the Championship at the NSA Builth Wells Society Sale in 2009. The following year, 2010, he was Male and Overall Champion Blue Texel at the Royal Welsh Show and was also awarded the Reserve Continental Interbreed Sheep. A half share in the ram was purchased back in autumn 2010. Ewe lambs sold in 2011 to 1200gns. Six daughters (Lots 801, 805, 817,818, 830, 831) and two full brothers (Lots 886 and 887) are included in the sale

BEILI BLUES FLOCK We would like to extend a warm welcome to you all to the joint Production Sale from Millside and Beili Blues. We would like to thank David and Jennifer for giving us the opportunity to join them in holding this Production Sale and we would also like to extend our thanks to all who have helped us prepare for the sale. Beili Blue Texels was formed shortly after we received two yearling ewes as wedding gifts in June 2007. Since then, the flock has grown to be one of the largest in the UK with currently over 50 ewes. We increased our flock by purchasing only the best sheep and stock rams we could find and by selecting our best sheep to perform embryo transplants. We also use Blue Texel rams on some of our commercial flock which consistently produce prime lambs with good weights and grades. After a few years of breeding Blue Texels, the biggest challenge facing us was the shortage of new bloodlines available as there are still only a relatively small number of flocks in the UK. For this reason, we decided to travel to the Netherlands in June 2011 in search of some new blood. We imported 14 females along with 3 good stock rams and the majority of the stock to be sold are progeny of these sheep. We’ve had great success in shows over the last few years especially at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, which has the biggest display of Blue Texels in the UK with over 130 sheep entered this year across four classes. We’ve also done well at the three society sales over recent years, winning on occasions and consistently selling for good prices. Thank you for showing an interest in Beili Blue Texels and we wish you the best of luck with any purchases made. Handling of Livestock at shows and sales: Harrison & Hetherington Limited recommend that an adult person should accompany any junior person during the showing/ sale of livestock in the ring and reserves the right to intervene at any point if, in the company’s opinion, the person showing the livestock is at risk in undertaking that activity. Passageways must be kept clear at all times during the auction sale. PLEASE DO NOT STAND IN THE SALE RING ENTRANCE AND EXIT PASSAGES. The auction ring man escapes and refuges must be kept clear at all times. All portable electrical equipment supplied and/or used by visitors and traders must be safe and fit for the purpose and should have a valid portable appliance test certificate.
10. If these conditions are unfulfilled, the Vendors or Auctioneers shall have the power to resell the Lots, retaining any surplus and charging any deficiency and expense to the defaulter. 11.
