General Information & Sale Notes Location: The Sale will be held at Northfield Farm, Hanley Castle, Worcester, WR8 0AA. Please see page 6 for directions. Method and Order of Sale: All animals will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is authorised and announced by the Auctioneers. Conditions of Sale: The sale is held subject to the Auctioneers General Terms and Conditions of Sale (printed in this catalogue) and to the Auction Rules and Conditions of Sale from Holstein UK. These rules and conditions are not printed in this catalogue but will be displayed at the sale premises and available for inspection. Settlement and Clearance of Stock: Settlement in full is due to the Auctioneers immediately at the conclusion of the Sale. No animal may leave the Sale Premises without an official PASS obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement and all stock should be cleared from the sale premises on the day of the sale. Commissions: The Auctioneers will faithfully execute commissions to purchase on behalf of buyers unable to attend the sale in person upon receipt of written notice and instructions received in their office not later than 48 hours before commencement of sale. Given the same notice telephone bids can be accommodated. Insurance: Facilities will be available (through H & H Insurance Brokers) for buyers to insure their animals for transit and other risks from the fall of the hammer. Directions From the North: Travel South West on the M5 and exit at junction 7. Then take the third exit on the roundabout on to the A44, signposted Worcester and Evesham, within a mile take first exit on to the A4440, at the next round about continue on the A4440 by taking the second exit on the roundabout. At the next roundabout take the first exit to join the A38 signposted Tewkesbury. After five mile turn right on to the A4104, signposted Upton. Over the River bridge and turn right at the mini round about. After two and a half mile along that road Richaven Holsteins will be on your right.

From the South: Exit the M5 at junction 8 then at the roundabout take the first exit on to the M50. Leave the M50 at junction one and exit the roundabout at the second exit on to the A38. After three miles turn left on to the A4104, signposted Upton. Over the River bridge and turn right at the mini round about. Foreword Almost twenty two years has passed since Richard Bown turned his dreams into reality and founded the Richaven Holstein herd. I am very proud to be involved in this special Open Day at Northfield Farm and it’s a pleasure to introduce you to this amazing catalogue. In 1993 Richard’s goal was to breed the best Holstein herd and we all admire and congratulate him on achieving this goal in such spectacular style. “Seeing is believing” has been the herd motto for many years and it was so appropriate earlier this year during UK Dairy Expo. Richaven Goldwyn Squaw 6 won the Supreme title; Richaven Rapture Rebecca won the Reserve Champion and making it a full house was Loukat Lucky who won Grand Champion Ayrshire. The Richaven herd also picked up the Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor Awards at UK Dairy Expo this year and achieved the same impressive feat at UK Dairy Day in 2014. The foundation of this exceptional herd was built on prolific cow families such as the Squaw, Adrienne, Mahala, Rebecca and Dellia and they all feature in this catalogue. The Squaw family is by far the most successful at Richaven. Approximately one third of the herd can be traced back to the original Skychief Squaw, dam of the famous sire Richaven Squawbuck who classified Excellent 96. Richaven cows have recently won the Super Cow title at Agriscot in Edinburgh in 2011 and 2013 and the other major highlight in recent years was winning the Holstein UK’s Premier Herd Title in 2009. The current herd of 70 includes 29 Excellent cows (11 classified over EX94) and all the cows having had two or more calves are either Excellent or Very Good and the milking heifers average VG86 6 points. This Open Day and Elite Sale is a celebration of everything that Richaven stands for and what the entire Bown family are truly passionate about Great cows. All of the animals in this catalogue have the potential to be great and I’m sure future legends will be developed from this special Elite Sale group. Just remember “Dreams do come true” and I look forward to meeting you on Saturday 4th July to celebrate everything that’s great about the Great Cows at Richaven. AUCTIONEER’S TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE (Incorporating the Auctioneer’s Terms and Conditions) 1. The biddings to be regulated by the Auctioneers and the highest bidder subject to the Vendor’s reserve (if any) to be the purchaser. No bid shall be retracted and if any dispute should arise between two or more bidders the Lot in dispute to be put up again and resold or the Auctioneers may determine the dispute at their own discretion and their decision shall be final. The Auctioneers reserve the right to refuse the bid of any person without being called upon to give reason for such action. 2. The Purchaser to give his full name and dwelling place and pay for all Lots purchased immediately at the close of sale. No Lot or Lots shall be removed from the sale premises until paid for and a pass-out slip obtained from the Auctioneer’s clerk but each and every Lot shall immediately at the fall of the hammer be considered as delivered and be and remain in every respect at the absolute risk and expense of the respective purchaser or purchasers thereof and shall be removed from the sale premises at the purchaser’s expense. The Auctioneers take no personal responsibility for the correctness of such statements or identities. 5. All statements in the catalogue or any made by the Auctioneers at the time of sale relating to any veterinary or other tests are to be taken as statements of fact only. No such statements shall guarantee the purchaser of any animal against loss arising from the subsequent reaction of such animal to any test administered after the sale and the Vendors shall not be liable in any way should this occur. 6. All stock is sold subject to the Conditions of Sale recommended for use at markets by the Livestock Auctioneers’ Markets Committee for England and Wales except in so far as these conflict with any Special Conditions applicable to the sale of pedigree stock when the latter Conditions shall prevail. 7. Neither the Vendors nor the Auctioneers will be responsible for any accident or injury to persons or property through fire or any other cause whatsoever nor for any damage by animals prior to during or after the sale. 8. No undertaking by the Auctioneers or their servants to take charge of any Lot or Lots after the sale or to forward them to their destination shall be held to impose upon the Auctioneers any legal obligation or vitiate any of these Conditions. 9. Inasmuch as the Auctioneers act as agents for a disclosed principal they shall not be considered personally responsible for any default on the part of either purchasers or Vendors and the remedy shall be against them only and not against the Auctioneers. 10. If these conditions are unfulfilled the Vendors or Auctioneers shall have the power to resell the Lots retaining any surplus and charging any deficiency and expense to the defaulter. 11.
