The design is questioning the traditional museum design which has different artefacts and people walking through the circulation. The design is proposing that the visitors can generate activities in the enclosed spaces. So, they have rooms to rethink and unleash their imagination. The sculptural form encourages the fluctuation of emotion in dynamic void area and echoes to its historical identity. For hurly-burly citizen, we are always finding a place to exhaust our stress and fueled our spirit. This design is to envision an informal space that is located in one of the famous tourist spots in Hong Kong. People can experience privacy within the designated void area as a way to reconcile the inner soul and outer world.

Stage as a concept to design an artist house in Sham Shui Po for a magician to live and provide a performance space as part of his livelihood. This design is questioning what would happen if people live along with the ephemeral space which is associated with magical life. The ephemeral space as a stage and part of the inner space to enhance the interaction with outer space as a tactic to blurr the boundary between indoor and outdoor.

There would be two new distinctive aspects in urban space. One is the green area opposite to the front elevation is going to be a temporary Seating area for gathering the audience to interact with stage performance and the flea market would also attract people to look around and create a new node point.

This is to design a brewery in yuen long that is one of the districts of new territory. After an interview with the real client, we understand that their intention is like to share the happiness of brewing and nurturing the culture of local draft beer. The site nearby the wetland ecological park. It is a natural habitat as many species are living over there which is rarely found in Hong Kong. So, it is attracting visitor coming from different areas.

Transgression of architecture Trans-programming with heterotopia via psychoanalysis

Hiu Tik Li, 2017, The distorted view of carnival in Hong Kong.

Figure 5. Parc de la Villette

‘‘Architectural programming is infused with the hybridized urban environment, which reveals the architectural disorder in our city. Then, the oppositions of internal and external space are eventually mediated and turn to the method that form the architectural program. This evolution goes beyond the expectation of social order as it composes the space through different correlations, position, function, and transformation, instead of followed the precedent to design a new architecture. This is an act that has not responded to the urban evolution. The reason was that architecture is not just the reflection of the superficial entity, but the progress of transformation from individually to collectively or vice versa. Tschumi’s spatial polemic argued the fundamental notion of space is the obstruction to design new space. He advocated that the trans-programming is a way to transcend the architectural notion and simultaneously question the fragmentation of the city.’’ Quotes from thesis: Transgression of architecture: Transprogramming with heterotopia via psychoanalysis

NURSERY SCHOOL 4 PEOPLE GROUP WORK COMPETITION CONTRIBUTION: • CONCEPT • PLAN • RENDER • DIAGRAM

This is a team effort to deliver the design strategy for a Finland nursery school which is located at Kangasala, Tampere. Translation part and brief reading are done by Finland tutor

P. 18

Aerial view Inspired by finland housing context

Nursery school This design has to incroporate the identity of local context with new urban zone in finland while concieving the tectonic architecture in Kangasala, Tampere. The design layout has to fullfil diferent aspects, such as serving different age group kid, preseve local architectural identity and public amenity. We splited up the massing into different cluster at the beginning but then we found that the disperse of cluster has made no connection between space. So, the public stadium and town hall concept are combined to deliver the internal space and we echoes to the traditional finland pitch roof concept in our external massing design.

The classroom and play area are integrated as the program of internal space and the featured void area is designed with a special form of installation as a catalyst to increase the interaction with kids and people around. The circular public area would be the centre of the building for public and community gathering. Nursery school can provide this as the intermediate space between public and private for facilitating the communication with new neighbourhood and city.

The project is to renovate an abandoned factory in Chengdu, China. Our design is intending to restore the existing truss inside the old building as a historical feature. Also, it is critical and difficult to remove the structure from an old building. So, this approach is the better way to redesign the whole building while adding some new features on the external facade.
