my heart is hitchhiking down peachtree street

Written & Performed by J.Fergus Evans

Sometimes home sits heavy in your bones. Sometimes you leave. American J.Fergus Evans is one of the most engaging story-tellers to emerge in recent years and in this beautiful show he talks to you about his displacement from his home town. This show uses spoken word and animation to explore the notion of home and trying to make sense of it when you are far away. Audiences of just six will be guided to our new performance space within Harrogate Theatre, making this a mesmerising experience not to be missed.

“This show is suffused with both pain and nostalgia, but also something tougher and more resilient. It creates a world so artfully that you leave the theatre swearing you’ve travelled to Georgia and back” The Guardian

Friday 7 & Saturday 8 June

The great spavaldos Presented by Il Pixel Rosso From New York to Bombay, from Paris to Abyssinia, the Spavaldo brothers performed their flying trapeze daredevil stunts without a safety net for over a quarter of a century before their mysterious disappearance. Now they are back to tell their story and dare audience members to join them inside the big top… high up on the flying platform. Following last year’s sell-out ‘And The Birds Fell From The Sky’, Il Pixel Rosso returns with another immersive and multi-sensory theatrical experience for two people. Fitted with video goggles and headphones you will be given choreographed instructions to take on a central role as one of The Great Spavaldos.

“This tantalisingly dreamy, intense little show is both good fun and thoroughly disorientating. For a short spell it takes you both out of your own body and yet more deeply into it at the same time” The Times

“This mysterious sliver of a show plays cleverly with disorientation to create an immersive experience so visceral that you will swear you’ve stepped into thin air” The Guardian

Friday 7 & Saturday 8 June

this is just to say Presented by Hannah Jane Walker Devised with Chris Thorpe

On working out last year that she said ‘sorry’ ninety-two times in an average working day, Hannah Jane Walker resolved, secretly, to go twenty-four hours without making a single apology. By the end of her challenge, Hannah’s boss had pulled her aside to have a quiet word: ‘Is everything alright, Hannah?’ she asked, ‘It’s just, well, you seem a little mean today.’ This Is Just To Say is about saying sorry, why we do it, and what we do when we want to apologise for things that actually matter. The Studio Theatre will be transformed in this intimate piece set around a table where Hannah will invite the audience to pull up a chair and drink some wine. It is a conversation with poems, it’s about manipulation, Britishness, love and winning.

“The show is confident, mature and smooth, the content endearing and engaging. The audience leave hyper-aware of when they say sorry” Total Theatre
