Elsa Norris Dodd - 1924-2008 Elsa Dodd, a life long family friend, was a unique and extraordinary artist that lived life on her terms. A highly successful portraitist in Atlanta and wife of Ed Dodd, the famous cartoon artist for the comic strip Mark Trail, Elsa moved to her beloved Highlands, NC after her divorce and lived on her beloved “Tobacco Road”. Life was an adventure for Elsa. Riding her horse Rocco through the woods at her family’s summer home “Bolingbroke Hall” to motoring around on her motorcycle. Elsa promoted the arts in Highlands early on from her ‘Tobacco Road Arts School” to eventually founding what became the Art League of Highlands. Elsa found a way to live her life following her heart.
