Simply walking through the display areas invokes a string of endless “oohs and aahs” as you pass master chefs keenly preparing gourmet meals in the live romanticized kitchens. Sleek dual convection oven? They’ve got it. PuraVida luxury sink? It’s available. Thermostatic spa shower series by award-winning designer Gessi? They have that too. And the best part is you can try out all that PIRCH has right in the store. It seems as though there isn’t much PIRCH doesn’t offer. Their elegant, fully-interactive showroom boasts a richness of products all beautifully displayed throughout a captivating atmosphere you’ll be reluctant to leave.

But you won’t enter PIRCH’s doors because of a billboard or a commercial. You actually won’t come across much of any advertisements. ocated at the cross section of Ponce De Leon Avenue and the Atlanta Beltline, Ponce City Market (PCM) has sparked its rebirth of the now fully renovated Sears, Roebuck & Co. building. The 2.1 million square-foot brick building is a mixed-use development bursting with raw, urban flare and nostalgic charm. Pleasantly reminiscent of New York City’s Meatpacking District, it’s no surprise the market is a Jamestown project, the same development group of Chelsea’s Market in New York City. As Atlanta’s largest adaptive reuse project, Ponce City Market is set to feature a world-class central food hall, chic loft space and leading brand retail shops by this spring. Aside from the obvious business advantage, the project seeks to sustain the environment and connect the surrounding neighborhoods in the
community including Midtown, Virginia-Highlands, the Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park. Despite modernized new features and renovations, Senior Vice President of development for Jamestown Properties, Jim Irwin explains that one of the main focuses of the project is to preserve the site’s historical elements and character, leaving it with a strong sense of authenticity and culture. “We are taking painstaking care to not clean it up too much, not to strip the patina away from the building. We want people, when they walk through the building, to really experience what it’s been like for the last 90 or so years.” And Ponce City Market boasts a rich evolution spanning those decades.

A LITTLE HISTORY…
• In the 1860’s, the location was known as Ponce De León Springs, based on a physician’s assumption that the spring harbored illness-curing water. • The spring was later converted into an amusement park beside Ponce De Leon Lake in 1903, which visitors referred to as “the Coney Island of Atlanta.” • In 1907, Ponce De Leon Lake was drained and transformed into a ballpark for the minor league Atlanta Crackers team. • In 1925, Sears, Roebuck & Co of Chicago began construction of a retail store and warehouse distribution center after their purchase of the 16± acre land on Ponce De Leon Avenue. • After the warehouse diminished and closed in 1989, the city of Atlanta purchased the building in 1991, renaming it City Hall East. • The city sells City Hall East to Jamestown in 2010, after low occupancy. • In 2015, Jamestown’s purchase is a vivacious, energetic and newly restored structure - Ponce City Market.
STILL TO COME…
Ponce City Market will preserve the history and heritage of the location as Jamestown plans to open a public history exhibit in a passageway connecting to the Atlanta Beltline. The market (expected to open later this year), will even recreate a piece of history with a rooftop amusement park offering a carnival experience much like early 20th century boardwalks and amusement parks.
NEW TO ATLANTA…
Progressive businesses like the Suzuki School, General Assembly and Dancing Goats Coffee Bar already flaunt open doors at PCM. Many new restaurants will open later this year including Bellina, Juice Box, Simply Seoul Kitchen and much more. As for retail, PCM will host familiar names like Anthropologie and J. Crew as well as some first-to-market retailers later this year.
Five new Ponce City Market retailers will be making their debuts in Atlanta. The Frye Company – A hand-crafted leather boots and accessories producer. PCM will be the Frye Company’s first location in Atlanta and seventh in the country.
The Jean Machine – Quality, well-cut jeans, t-shirts and denim
wear brand based in London. This will be the store’s first location in the U.S.
Oakleaf & Acorn – An online quality men’s boutique offering select goods like knives, leather products, vintage wear and more. Oakleaf & Acorn will premiere its first brick-and-mortar location at PCM.

Harry Norman, REALTORS® through the Years kept Miss Emmie’s vision alive and grew the business into the leading real estate firm it is today. A respected leader in the industry, Harry served in leadership roles for the Atlanta Board of REALTORS®, the First Multiple Listing Service, the Georgia Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. In 1994, Harry passed the company leadership to President J. Lewis Glenn and a group of managing partners who continued the vision that Miss Emmie started more than seven decades ago.

But Harry Norman, REALTORS®’ lasting success can be attributed to the vision and determination of founder Mrs. Emmaline (“Emmie”) Norman. In 1930, Miss Emmie became the first woman broker to open the first exclusively residential real estate firm in Atlanta. Miss Emmie’s vision was to provide superior customer service in real estate. Her dedication to principled business ethics and old-fashioned consideration earned her a position of admiration among her peers. She was elected as the first Governor of the Georgia Women’s Council of REALTORS® and she continued to be held in high regard by others in the industry, and in the Atlanta community, until her death in 1969.
Today, Dan Parmer, President and CEO, continues the legacy of Miss Emmie, leading more than 1,000 sales associates that make up Harry Norman, REALTORS®. Nearly half of these extraordinary sales associates are members of their respective boards’ Million Dollar Clubs. They serve as advocates for their customers by staying abreast of current laws, mortgage trends, and market analysis as well as putting their customers’ needs first.
