“Our current repeater system is outdated, unstable and difficult to use. We need a team who will redesign a new repeater that will bring the product up to date as well as easier to use.”
“We never use repeaters, there way to complex and old fashioned. It takes ages to assemble them which is not ideal in a fire. If they could make it easier to use then we would use them again because they are quite handy.”

Product Insight
Observing our research and applying it to potential design concepts. The team reviewed current products on the market to better understand the competition. Understanding the dangers within a house fire situation as well as understanding the point of view of the user whom in this situation is the fire fighter.
Able to sustain within a Fire Environment
Electronics required for the device.
Attachable and wearable to the fire fighters uniform.
Collapse The Collapse concept is designed to focus on protecting both antennas while holding them at a 90 degrees.
Wobble Designed to do exactly that, wobble when hit but never fall flat. This will keep antenna at a constant 90 degree angle there by keeping the signal strong.
Nest
The Concept Inspired by party cups the Nest concept is design to stack upon one another to allow the user to carry multiple devices easily. The cone shape decreases the chance of the device being knocked over and interrupting the signal.
Lighting Including the six inch antenna the Nest also includes LEDs lights at the top increasing visibility in dangerous situations.
Antenna The design allows the antenna to be flush with the curved structure of the device. This decreases the chance of the antenna braking off.
Bird Watcher Sustainable and Eco friendly There are many people who enjoy watching wild animals, particularly birds. However watching them up close is near impossible. An electronic bird box that offers the user to watch their garden birds. Powered by solar power and using the power of blue tooth it offers an effortless experience.
Product Insight Observing solar powered garden lights, CCTV and Blue tooth Technology. Researching into typical garden objects that displayed the use of solar power offered an insight into developing the bird box. Also the use of CCTV and blue tooth offered a great solution to how the user would interact with the box while far away.
Blue tooth to transfer data from the box to the user mobile device.
Solar panels to power the device and cut out the need to replace batteries.
To record live footage of the birds activates .
Manufacturing Processes
The Roof The roof’s outer shell will be made using injection moulding to protect the electronic equipment inside. Equipped with a camera , blue tooth chip as well as rechargeable batteries to power the device.
Solar Panels There will be four solar panels placed on each face of the device. This will make it receive sun light regardless of what direction the device it facing.
The Main Body The main body of the device will be manufactured by rotation moulding. Using High-density polyethylene to make the body light weight but strong as well as water proof.
User Experience
Taylors Of Harrogate Live Univeristy Project A four week live project designing a product and pakageing to work with there Tea and Coffire range.
Product Insight Thinking of ways to offer an exspereance within a gift. The team looked into ways where we could develop packaging that would in rich the exspereance of the tea bags.
The packageing must fit through a letter box.
The exspereance of sharing tea with a loved one.
Taking insperation from a cafe menu.
