WALLINGTON VIEWPOINT

CAMB0 | NORTHUMBERLAND The Wallington Viewpoint exists to celebrate the work of Capability Brown through embracing and becoming a part of the landscape that influenced him. Situated on a sloping site above Wallington’s walled garden, the Viewpoint allows visitors to be inspired by the same majestic views that captured Brown’s imagination. The ascents, turns and reveals experienced in the Viewpoint echo those of a Brown landscape. A new productive garden for community food growth accompanies the existing adjacent walled garden, while new dedicated space for Wallington’s gardeners facilitate both the productive and walled gardens.

TYNE THEATRE

NEWCASTLE | TYNE & WEAR This scheme sees a new addition to Newcastle’s historic Tyne Theatre. Currently a cramped, congested space, the existing theatre required a new structure to house a small theatre, restaurant and exhibition space. The new structure intends to restore the Tyne Theatre as both a physical and societal landmark of the region. It sits alongside and beneath the existing listed front facade at street level, segmenting and humanising its grand scale.

C R E A T I V E COMMUNITY

OUSEBURN | TYNE & WEAR The Ouseburn river-front currently finds itself in a disjointed and fragmented condition. Three distinct vertical levels (the road, the river, the in-between) find themselves without connection. In this scheme a permeable landscape is formed, in which the clubhouse plays a key part, providing a porous layer between the road and the river; this building is actively involved with the landscape on all levels, opening out to public plazas on the road and intermediate levels with the river level exposing the public to the craft and intricacy of the boat club’s repair and activities.
