URBAN DESIGN STUDIO - LIBRARY

5

Brief : The Urban Design Studio focuses on design in urban contexts at a range of scales - from neighbourhood down to site - while introducing students to spatial configuration in urban environments that integrate the many cultural, spatial, architectural, and ecological issues of these places. In this Studio the project aim is to design an Public Library at the project site whose Users will be the Local Public of Gondal City. The requirements where listed to have good quality space in library and also to design an public park besides the library to encourage the people of Gondal with the terms of library

, Gujarat, India

The process has been accelerated by the Public Works Department of the State and also partly because of the jurisdiction of the other Kathiawar States. The villages have increased their wealth of agricultural implements as well as their cattle wealth have been replenished greatly by profits of their produce. Gondal, Dhoraji, Upleta were the three main cities which progressed greatly. Gondal does not measure its worth by the splendor of its material belongings but by the worth of the individual man under its care. The Site is Located around and Near to the Gondal main Civil Hospital. The site is along the Main Rivers Of Gondal which in future would be developed as a River Fornt project. Opposite to the River Side of the Site situated the King Palace and the Museum SITE

Gondal territory is a midland strip of level fertile plains, a few jungle-growths and number of quarries of ores, coal, chemicals, etc.

THESIS SEM INTER-MODAL10 METRO STATION 6

A well-designed public transportation system is the best to offer an expanding metropolis. It gives users with more options for how they wish to travel and decreases environmental impact. However, a city designed for efficient transit gives even more. Creating a sustainable metropolis that makes the most of its mobility while also guiding the growth of cities. It entails concentrating more attention on larger buildings and more people in the vicinity of transit nodes and corridors.

Growing cities in India are powerful magnets, offers a varied range of professions and a higher quality of life, resulting in a migration from rural areas.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION India’s development is accelerating. It’s an inevitable consequence of the development cycle. According to Census 2011, 377 million Indians lived in urban areas, contributing for 31.14 percent of the country’s population. By 2031, the urban population is estimated to increase 600 million (40 percent) and 850 million (50 percent) correspondingly. In 2011, Mumbai had the greatest population of 12.4 million people, followed by Delhi with 11.03 million people.

Transit Oriented Development SURATGujarat,India

AIM To create a transit-friendly structure between existing railway stations by incorporating Metro Stations and modal interchanges within walking/ cycling distance of each other, and also Bus and Railway stations.

TOD

OBJECTIVE

27

To have a better understanding of multi-modal transit interchange and assure last-mile connection, To combine dense, high-rise mixed-use development and multi-modal interchange with metro stations and one another. Propose using skywalks to connect the current railway and bus terminals with the new construct. Within the station area, create a grid of safe pedestrian mobility.
