SERIES HISTORY
Sunday marks the first meeting of all-time between Hartford and Clark. The Cougars also will be the first NEWMAC team that the Hawks face since the program’s first season back in 2018.
TEAM HISTORY
In it’s inagural season in 2018, Hartford earned its first win in its first ever game played. Defeating Delaware State 20-4 on February 24, 2018. Debbie Phillips netted the first goal in program history.

TODAY’S MATCH
The Hartford women’s lacrosse team opens its 2023 season hosting Clark University on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Faceoff between the Hawks and Cougars is set for 12 p.m., on AlMarzook Field at Alumni Stadium.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Cougars are coming off a 3-11 season in 2022 that saw the team’s last win come in conference action against Mount Holyoke. Clark enters Wednesday’s contest with one game under their belt on the campaign, falling to Gordon College 14-13 Saturday. Elizabeth Liakos posted a perfect 1.000 shot percentage, scoring four goals in the season opener against Gordon. Kiley Simmons and Aubrey Conners are Clarks’ top retruning scorers from a season ago. Simmons posted a team-high 28 goals and 33 points, while Conners ranked second on the squad with 23 goals and 25 points.

Hartford enters its fifth season in 2023 under second-year head coach Jen Nardi after missing the 2022 campaign. The Hawks’ four returners from 2021 are joined by 15 newcomers to the roster. Hartford’s three captains are seniors Hanna Ramsey and Olivia Wightman, along with sophomore Meghan Smith. Ramsey returns as the Hawks’ lone goalkeeper, accumulating 13 games played while tallying 72 saves over her two years of
competition. Also returning for the Hawks is graduate student Emily Steel, who ranked fifth on the squad in 2021 for draw controls (10), while leading the team in caused turnovers (11). Graduate student Lily Belle Baker enters the 2023 campaign with seven career goals, 18 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and 20 draw controls over her first three seasons of competition.
SERIES HISTORY
Hartford and Clark meet for the first time in program history Wednesday afternoon on the turf of Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium. The Cougars also will be the first NEWMAC team that the Hawks face since the program’s first season in 2018.
PROGRAM HISTORY
Hartford won its inagural game against Delaware State back on Feb. 24, 2018 by a score of 20-4. Scoring the first goal in Hartford women’s lacrosse program history was Debbie Phillips who finished the contest with five goals and two assists. Billy McLaughlin led the game in scoring, finishing with a total of seven goals throughout the matchup.
