NEED TO KNOW GAME DAY NOTES
BY THE #’S
4
The Hawks look to preserve their perfect 4-0 mark inside Reich Family Pavilion in this weekend’s series with Binghamton.
10
Junior D.J. Mitchell has been red-hot from three since the start of America East play, going 10-for-19 for a sizzling .526 clip.
1
Grad student Traci Carter continues to wreak havoc on opponents’ offense, ranking first in the America East with 2.6 steals per game.
NOTES TO KNOW SETTING THE SCENE
Hartford looks to bounce back from backto-back setbacks when it hosts Binghamton for a two-game set on Saturday and Sunday. The Hawks rode their longest winning streak since 2014-15 — a five-game rally — into an America East series at New Hampshire, but came up short to the Wildcats in both outings.
WELCOME BACK!
Sophomore Miroslav Stafl has been huge for the Hawks since making his season debut in their America East-opening set against Maine. He has scored in double figures in two of four games — including a seasonhigh 17 points in Hartford’s second win against Maine — to rank second with 10.8 points per game. Stafl has also been solid on the boards, as he leads the Hawks with 7.0 rebounds per game.
CLEAN SWEEP
Senior Austin Williams and freshman Thomas Webley swept the America East’s weekly awards earlier this month (Dec. 7), winning Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively. They are the first Hartford duo to sweep the league’s weekly awards in 15 years, when Kenny Adeleke earned Player of the Week and Joe Zeglinski garnered Rookie of the Week honors from the conference on Dec. 5, 2005.

ALUMNI FEATURE WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
ANTHONY MINOR BY THE #’S
121
Minor logged time in 121 career games in his four seasons at Hartford, the eighth-most in the program’s Division I history.
58.3
Minor was an efficient shooter during his time with the Hawks, combining for a career 58.3% field goal percentage (218-of-374).
1
Minor led Hartford to the program’s first-ever appearance in the America East Championship’s title game as a freshman in 2008.
Anthony Minor helped take Hartford basketball to the next level. The Philadelphia native played in 121 career games in his four years donning the Scarlet and White from 2007-11. To this day, just seven other Hawks have seen time in more contests. Minor was a part of what is still one of the most significant moments in program history. As a freshman in 2007-08, the forward helped lead the Hawks to their first-ever appearance in the Championship Game of the America East Tournament. Despite falling short of earning the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth, the accomplishments were still great. Along with reaching uncharted territory with the Championship Game appearance, the Hawks finished the season with 18 wins, the most in Hartford’s Division I history at the time. Minor, who played in all 34 games that season, made major contributions as a starter, averaging 4.3 points on 56

ALUMNI FEATURE percent shooting from the field. As a senior in 2010-11, he upped his scoring to 6.7 points per game. The America East Championship appearance — and other big moments that include a tournament in Las Vegas and road trip at Kentucky — are obvious memories that Minor will never forget. But those games — and the wins and losses — aren’t the first thing that come to his mind when asked to reflect on his time as a Hartford Hawk. The biggest takeaway from his collegiate career, which he describes as the “best four years of his life” are the friendships and the brotherhood that was created with the guys he shared the court with, and the coaches who guided him along the way. Minor still keeps in touch with those guys, some on a daily basis, including Kevin Estes, Andres Torres, David Bookman, Morgan Sabia and Clayton Brothers. There have been weddings that have landed former teammates in Puerto Rico, California and Tahoe for reunions. And now, his love for the game and the friendships he fostered along the way have led to another opportunity for Minor. He has reunited with former teammate Joe Zeglinski on the hardwood, this time on the sidelines as an assistant coach at Archbishop Ryan High School. Zeglinski has served as head coach of Archbishops’ boys’ basketball team since 2015. Jeff Dooley, the voice of the Hartford Hawks, had a chance to catch up with the former men’s basketball standout. To hear more about Minor’s time as a Hartford Hawk, check out the interview below.
