SERIES HISTORY Hartford and NJIT meet for the first time as conference mates on Friday. The history between the two teams dates back to 2007, when the Hawks split a doubleheader at home. NJIT took the first game in West Hartford, 4-2, before Hartford took game two in 11 innings, 9-8.
LAST MEETING The Hartford baseball team surrendered four runs in the top of the ninth inning as it fell at Fiondella Field to visiting NJIT, 9-6, to close out a three-game series against the Highlanders on March 31, 2012. Andy Drexel led the Hawks offense, going 2-for-4 from the plate with two RBI.

SETTING THE SCENE
After moving Sunday’s doubleheader due to impending weather, the Hartford baseball team plays host to conference newcomer NJIT for a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. First pitch from Fiondella Field is set for 1 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.
NASTY NATE
After a strong outing against Binghamton this past Sunday, graduate student Nathan Florence was named the America East Pitcher of the Ken Turner struck out a Week. Florence led Hartford to a 2-1 win over career-high 11 batters on Saturday, tying the second- Binghamton in game one of the doubleheader, tossing seven complete innings, allowing one run most strikeouts by an America East pitcher in 2021 on six hits, while striking out seven.
NJIT NOTEBOOK QUICK HIT NJIT enters the four-game set with Hartford on Friday at 2-8 on the season. The Highlanders opened the first weekend of America East play by dropping three of four at home against UAlbany. The two sides split Saturday’s contests, before the Great Danes swept on Sunday, 4-2 and 5-4.
