The Hartford men’s lacrosse team looks to make it back-to-back wins Saturday, when it hosts NJIT, the newest member of the America East.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Junior Chris Campbell became the first Hawk to win a weekly award from the conference this past Monday when he was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week. The Shrewsbury, Mass., native took home his first career weekly honor after forcing three turnovers and collecting seven ground balls in an 8-7 win at Binghamton.

DEE-FENCE!

Hartford is coming off its strongest defensive outing of the season in last Saturday’s victory at Binghamton. In addition to limiting the Bearcats to seven goals, the Hawks recorded 14 caused turnovers, the most in a single game since notching 22 at Sacred Heart on March 22, 2012.

NJIT NOTEBOOK QUICK HIT NJIT looks to bounce back from consecutive losses to Binghamton and Stony Brook. Prior to scoring their first win at UMass Lowell last month, the Highlanders opened 2021 with five setbacks, three of which came against league opponents.

LAST TIME OUT & STATS LAST BY THE TIME #’SOUT Hartford held off a furious comeback bid to defeat Binghamton, 8-7, this past Saturday. After leading by a 7-1 count in the first half, the Hawks were outscored by a 6-1 margin over the game’s final 30-plus minutes. Graduate student Ryan Lovell forced a key turnover in the closing seconds to ultimately seal the win for Hartford.
