4
Playing its inaugural campaign in 2018, Hartford women’s lacrosse enters its fourth season as a Division I program in 2021.
5
The Hawks return each of their five top scorers from a year ago, including senior Birdie Montes, who averaged 1.7 goals per game.
6
Joining 25 returners for the 2021 season are six newcomers, all of whom will be making their collegiate debuts as true freshmen.
SETTING THE SCENE
The Hartford women’s lacrosse team opens up its nine-game slate that features five home games on Thursday, when it hosts Vermont.
IT’S MILLER TIME
A member of the Hawks since their inaugural season in 2018, senior Megan Miller enters the 2021 campaign as the program’s all-time leader in points (48) and assists (21). In addition, with 27 career goals, she needs one more to become Hartford’s record holder in that category.
DOUBLE THE OFFENSE
Nearly doubling their scoring from 2019 to 2020, the Hawks were putting up program-best numbers in goals, points and assists per game prior to the season coming to an abrupt end on March 12, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
VERMONT NOTEBOOK QUICK HIT Opening its 2021 campaign Thursday, Vermont was picked to finish fifth in the America East Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Catamounts had a 4-4 record in 2020 before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
