SERIES HISTORY

Hartford and Manhattan will battle on the diamond for just the second time in program history. Hartford will match-up with three MAAC opponents througout the season, including Fairfield, Marist and Quinnipiac.

LAST MEETING

The Hawks took the previous meeting against the Jaspers 8-3 back on March 16, 2016. Justin Cashman earned the win on the mound tallying two strikeouts in two innings of work, while David Mackinnon and Erik Ostberg led the Hawks at the plate going a combined 4-for-8 with two doubles, three runs and one RBI.

BREAKDOWN MANHATTAN JASPERS (3-12, 0-0

WEEKEND SERIES

After an extended six-game road trip to open up the season, the Hartford baseball team makes its 2023 home debut with a three-game weekend series agianst Manhattan. The Hawks and Jaspers will battle in a doubleheader at Fiondella Field on Friday at noon, before wrapping up their three-game set with a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Manhattan enters play with a record of 3-12 on the season. The Jaspers will have a quick turnaround after dropping an 11-4 decision to Hofstra on Thursday afternoon. Jack Lynch leads the Manhattan offense with a .366 batting average and 1.156 OPS. Daniel Perez has emerged as a main power threat, recording a team-leading three homeruns on the year. On the mound, Darien Rorabeck paves the way for the Jaspers with a 4.76 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 17.0 innings of work. Pete Durocher and Zahan Meyer have menaces on the basepaths, each going a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen base attempts this season.

LAST TIME OUT

The Hawks took one game in a threegame series at Georgetown last weekend. Hartford earned its first win of the season in the second game of the series, taking down the Hoyas 5-3 in a 12 inning thriller. Manny Corporan earned the win after entering

the game in relief of starter Robert Chaney who allowed three runs on six hits while striking out three batters in 5.1 innings of work. Corporan earned after throwing 5.0 shutout innings of relief with four punch outs. Harrison Engstrom paced the Hawks offense in the win, going 3-for-6 with one RBI. JJ Romatzick and Jackson Ciccone each had solid days at the plate going a combined 7-for-14 with three runs, one RBI, and one walk.

LEADERBOARDS

Luke Rier and Manny Corporan are among the nation’s leaders in ERA and WHIP. Corporan sits atop the NCAA leaderboards with a perfect 0.00 ERA and .33 WHIP over 6.0 innings of work, while Rier ranks top-10 with a .67 WHIP and is tied for first posting a 0.00 ERA.

HOME SWEET HOME

The Hawks played their best baseball at Fiondella Field a year ago. Hartford posted a 7-14 record in West Hartford last season with a season-best four-game winning streak coming in the final four games of the season on their home turf. Hartford took the victory a season ago in five of its last seven home matchups of the season.

Hartford welcomes Stonehill to Bob Fiondella Field for a midweek matchup on Tuesday, March 21st. First pitch between the Hawks and Skyhawks is set for 3 p.m.
