Series History

Hartford and Stonehill will battle on the turf of Bob

Fiondella Field in West Hartford, Conn., for the first time in program history.

Season Series

The Skyhawks are one one of three NEC opponents the Hawks will face-off against this season, others including Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut State.

Hartford owns a 23-15-1 all-time series record against those fellow NEC opponents.

TODAY’S MATCHUP

The Hartford baseball team continues its 2023 campaign with a midweek home matchup against Stonehill on Tuesday, March 21st. First pitch between the Hawks and Skyhawks is set for 3 p.m., from Bob Fiondella Field.

Scouting The Opponent

The Skyhawks enter play with a record of 1-12 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Stonehill earned its first win of the season on March 4th, taking down Army West Point, 7-3. Leading the Skyhawks offensive output is Conor Kiely, Trey Ciulla-Hall and Jack Marshall who are eah batting over .300 on the season.Marshall paces his squad with a .346 average while Kiely slashes .327 and Ciulla-Hall bats .316 on the year. Ciulla-Hall has allso been Stonehill’s main power threat, blasting a team-leading four homeruns on the season. On the mound, Matt Tyman is the Skyhawks ace, pacing the pitching staff with a 3.27 ERA over 11.0 innings of work with nine strikeouts.

The Hawks are coming off a three-game home weekend set against Manhattan. Hartford scored a season series-high 15 runs across the three-games against the Jaspers. Devin Kellogg, Noah Rivera, and Ryan Melendez each had strong series at the plate. Kellogg went 7-for-13 with two doubles, a homerun and five RBI, while

Rivera launched his first round-tripper of the season in the opeing game against Manhattan. Melendez went 2-for-2 at the dish with a double and a run in the series finale on Saturday after recording his first career triple in game two on Friday. Alec Couture leads the Hawks starting rotation with a 7.04 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and eight strikeouts in 15.1 innings of work. Manny Corporan has been a shut down arm out of the bullpen to this point of the season. Posting a perfect 0.00 ERA and 0.33 WHIP with five punch outs in 6.0 innings on the mound thus far.

Home Sweet Home

The Hawks played their best baseball at Fiondella Field a year ago. Hartford posted a 7-14 record in West Hartford last season with a season-best four-game winning streak coming in the final four games of the season on their home turf. Hartford took the victory a season ago in five of its last seven home matchups of the season.

Hartford heads back out on the road for a three-game weekend series at Northeastern over March 25-26. First pitch on Saturday’s series opening doubleheader between the Hawks and Huskies is set for 11 a.m.
