Series History

Tuesday marks the first meeting in program history between Hartford and SCSU. The Owls will be the second NE10 team the Hawks have faced off against in program-history.

The Hawks last met against an NE10 conference opponent earlier this season March 23rd, against St. Michael’s. Lily Belle

Baker and Lenaijah Ferguson led the Hawks with two goals each against the Purple Knights.

TODAY’S MATCH

The Hartford women’s lacrosse team is set for its 2023 regular season finale on Tuesday, hosting Southern Connecticut State at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium. Opening draw control between the Hawks and Owls is set for 4 p.m.

Scouting The Opponent

Southern Connecticut State enters play with a 7-6 overall and 3-6 record in NE10 conference play. The Owls are riding a four-game losing streak heading into Tuesday’s matchup, most recently falling to in-state conference rival New Haven, 19-12. Leading the SCSU offense has been Karlie Row who has scored a team-high 33 goals on the season. Bayleigh Takacs has been the Owls main distributor, dishing out 25 assists while also netting 28 goals for a team-leading 53 points. Brianna Shaw ranks top-five in the NE10 with 66 draw controls. Caelan Connors is the Owls main netminder, tallying 112 saves over 13 appearances in net for SCSU this season.

The Hawks are looking to get back in the win column after dropping their last four contests. The Hawks as a team have combined to score a program-record 138 goals on the year. Fueling Hartford’s offense are four 20+ goal scorers including, Meghan Smith (28), Lenaijah Ferguson (27), Lily Belle Baker (23), and Emily Steele (23). This has been a record-breaking season all around for the Hawks, with Smith, Steele, and Courtney Ingham each breaking previous program-records. Smith’s 28 goals mark the most scored in a single-season while Steele has accumulated a programbest 38 points on the year off 23 goals and 15 assists.

Rookie Campaign

Courtney Ingham, Sara Costa, and Kelly Hoxie have each made a big impact in the Hawks starting lineup during their first seasons with the program. Ingham set the program-record for most points by a first-year student in program history at 17 total off 13 goals and four assists. Costa and Hoxie add to the scoring success this season each tallying 12 points on the year.
