While Manhattan leads the overall series, 17-12, Hartford has claimed seven of the last eight contests between the two teams. It’s only the fourth trip to West Harford for Manhattan. The Hawks are 4-2 in home games against the Jaspers.

The combination of Lauren Card and Caylee English limited the Jaspers’ bats to just four hits over seven innings. Card allowing two earned runs on three hits over four innings, while English picked up the save.

Mara Sczecienski extended her hitting streak to eight games with her fifth multi-hit game of the season. The second baseman was 2-for-4 on the day, accounting for half of the Hawks’ knocks.
Olivia Wolk and Samantha Nagel were responsible for the other two Hartford hits.e as the Hawks fell short in the nightcap, 5-4. She scored two runs with three RBI. English was clutch in the circle, striking out half of the 14 batters she faced over three innings. The senior allowed one earned run on one hit with seven strikeouts and three walks in her outing. Lauren Card, 3-2, took the loss – allowing four runs, three earned –on six hits over four innings. She had three strikeouts and four walks.
Streaking
Mara Sczecienski has raised her batting average more than 120 points during her current eight-game hitting streak. Buoyed by her 4-for-4 performance in the Siena nightcap, she is went from .259 to .389 over this stretch.
She began with a two-homer performance against UT-Chattanooga and has been hitting rockets ever since. During her streak, Sczecienski is 14-of-27 with three doubles, four homeruns and eight RBI.
In The Cards
Senior Lauren Card has seemingly rebounded from a tough 2022 season as she is leading the team with a 3.00 ERA. Her three wins have already eclipsed her career total of two coming into the season.
Part of her success has been her ability to command the strike zone. In 38 innings last year, Card 13 walks and eight strikeouts. Thus far in 35 innings, she has eight walks with 24 strikeouts.
