Sunday marks the first meeting all-time between Hartford and Bay Path.

The Wildcats will also be the first USCAA opponent the Hawks have faced off against in program history.

The Game

The Hartford softball team returns home on Sunday, April 16, to host Bay Path Univeristy in a doubleheader. Sunday will also serve as Hartford’s Senior Day, where the Hawks will honor their 2023 senior class prior to first pitch at 12 p.m.

Scouting The Opponent

Bay Path enters play with a 7-17 overall record, most recently sweeping a doubleheader against SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday. The Wildcats took game one against the Tigers, 7-3, before finishing off the sweep in game two, 9-4. Leading Bay Paths offense has been the duo of Taylor Suffoletto and Carolina Austin who are each batting over .400 on the year. Suffoletto leads with a .406 batting average, 10 doubles, and 23 RBI while Austin follows with an even .400 average, 32 hits, and three triples on the year. Isabelle Ferrara highlights the Wildcats pitching staff with a 6.58 ERA over 67.0 innings of work with 10 complete games and 28 strikeouts.

Hartford Quick Hits

The Hawks enter sunday with an even .500 record at 13-13 after sweeping Saturday’s doubleheader against Simmons. Hartford took game one, 3-2, before earning the victory in game two, 6-5, after 12 innings. Olivia Wolk had an outstanding day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one double, one RBI, and two stolen bases. Kelsey Galevich launched her team-leading fifth home run of the season, while Shailynn Williams recorded her first career round tripper in game two against the Sharks. Leading the Hawks offense has been Mara Sczecienski who is batting .386 on the year with 34 hits, seven doubles, four home runs, and 14 RBI. Lauren Card has been the Hawks’ ace of the pitching staff, registering a 2.58 ERA and 6-2 record over 62.1 innings of work with 42 strikeouts. On the basepaths, Hartford has combined to steal 32 bases with Wolk swiping a team-high six bases on the season, while Sarah Serrano has gone a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts.

Senior Day

The 2023 senior class of Mara Sczecienski, Samantha Nagel, Caylee English, Lauren Card, Kelsey Galevich, and Alyssa Viscardo will be honored along with late classmate Melissa Marchese prior to first pitch at 11:40 a.m.

Hartford returns to the diamond on Thursday, April 20, for a midweek doubleheader against UAlbany. First pitch between the Hawks and Great Danes is set for 2:30 p.m.
