TODAY’S MATCH-UP
The Hartford softball team wraps-up its 2022 regular season, facing off with Maine in a three-game weekend set. First pitch from the Hartford Softball Field on Friday is set for 1 p.m.
SENIOR DAY
Prior to the start of Saturday’s game the Hawks will honor the class of 2022 with a senior day ceremony. The team will recognize: Paige Fedak, Milena Wilton, Haley Cassidy, Ally Beck, Emma Curry, Julianna Kocenski and Kelsey Galevich.
INSIDE THE SERIES
In the all-time series between Hartford and Maine, the Black Bears own a 61-26 advantage over the Hawks. The America East conference foes last met earlier this season at the Quinnipiac Round Robin Tournament. Hartford split the two games against Maine, losing game one, 9-2, before taking game two, 6-4. In games played between the two at the Hartford Softball Field, the
Black Bears hold a 35-8 edge over the Hawks.
SCOUTING MAINE
The Black Bears come in to the weekend series with a overall record of 8-32 and 4-9 in conference play. In the circle, Caitlyn Fallon has been the leader of the Maine pitching staff. Fallon leads the team with a 4.57 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, three wins, two complete games, one shutout and has only allowed opposing lineups to bat .274 off of her. Jasmine Grey has been the Black Bears main threat at the plate, slashing a team leading .305 average, 29 hits, nine doubles, two homeruns and 15 RBI. Kya Enos has been a menace on the basepaths, swiping a team leading 16 stolen bases.

With the 2022 regular season coming to a close, the Hartford softball team is currently is the sixth seed. With the previous two seasons being shortened due to Covid-19, Hartford last made the playoffs in 2019.

LEAGUE LEADERS
Hartford has shown prowess all over the field leading to numerous top-ten performances in the league. Jordan Nastos enters the weekend with the seventh best batting average of .352. Haley Cassidy sits top-ten in the conference with 10 doubles, two triples, and 13 walks. In the circle, Julianna Kocenski enters play as one of the hardest working pitchers on the year. Posting the third highest innings pitched total of 125 while accumulating 73 total strikeouts, 22 coming with the batter looking.

NEXT ON TAP
The Hawks return to the diamond on Wednesday for the opening day of the America East Playoffs hosted by Binghamton. Games will be played between May 11-14, with first pitch on Wednesday set for 11 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Last time out, Hartford took on Binghamton in a weekend threegame set on the road. The Hawks dropped the series opening doubleheader, losing game one, 10-3, before falling in game two, 1-0. Olivia Wolk had a solid day at the plate after the first two games of the series, going 3-for-4 with one

DUDEK
Mairin Dudek enters her first season as the head coach of the University of Hartford softball team. Before arriving at the University of Hartford, Dudek most recently spent time as an Assistant Coach with Amherst College from 2020-2021. Prior to her time at Amherst, she served as the second head softball coach for the American International Colleges 43-year-old softball program. In her time with AIC, she coached 38 NFCA Academic AllAmericans, 11 NE10 All-Conference players, the 2018 NE10 Defensive Player of the Year Alexa DiLeo, and both 2013 and 2018 All-Conference selections. Before her tenure at AIC, Dudek was an assistant coach at UAlbany. In 2011, she was recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as the Northeast Regions Coaching Staff of the Year. Dudek began her coaching career as the head coach at Wheelock College in 2005, before being named Assistant Director of Athletics and head softball coach at Fisher College. Dudek was a four-year member and two-year captain of the Ithaca College softball team, where she helped lead the Bombers to four consecutive NCAA Division III Championship appearances from 1999-2002. Dudek recorded the gamewinning hit for the 2002 national title and was named to both the 2001 and 2002 Northeast Regional All-Tournament teams.
