Carnet de Voyage A Collection of Travel Sketches by Hart Howerton December, 2023

Sketch by Eryan Gwin

TRAVEL SKETCHING has long been a fundamental part of an architect’s education. Since the days of Inigo Jones and the Grand Tour, we have been traveling with sketchbooks in hand to learn from and document the wonders of faraway lands. After emerging from the restrictions of the pandemic, we began to enjoy the liberation of travel once again. The following collection of sketches is a celebration of that rediscovered freedom and a reminder that there is no better way to understand a place than to experience it with eye, hand, and pencil.
