Thurs 7th May 7.30pm
Like a tiny bomb exploding in the middle of your life, the baby arrives - and suddenly nothing will ever be the same again.
Monroe as we’ve never seen her before: alone in her bedroom, in dressing gown and slippers, no glitz, no glamour, no masks.
In this fast and funny new play, Tangled Feet take a sideways look at how we cope with our children – and how our parents coped with us. A perfect show for anyone who has experienced the minefield that is family.
Overdosed on pills, the woman behind the icon unravels her remarkable life and bares all, revealing a biting intelligence, a frustrated talent and an imperfect body.
“Great - as a mum of two myself I thought it was excellent and hilarious. All parents would have recognised themselves in it” Audience member on Tangled Feet’s Push Tangled Feet’s work is often inspired by their own experiences or from in-depth research. Kicking and Screaming follows this tradition; partly inspired by director Kat Joyce’s recent experience as a new parent and from her visits to the North East, meeting new parents and sharing stories. The play was commissioned as part of the REACH project, funded by Arts Council England to bring new theatre to the North East. Tangled Feet are “defining the future of theatre” The Edinburgh Guide
“a dazzling performance...” HHHH Edinburgh Guide This stark confessional (DiMaggio, Gable, Miller, her mother – it’s all here) offers a radical interpretation of this Hollywood legend and leads us, in real time, to the very moment of her death. “Simply stunning” HHHHH Edinburgh Reporter “Spellbinding” HHHHH The Carrick “Outstanding” HHHHH One4Review Tickets Standard £7, Concession £6

The Life & Loves of a Nobody
Half a Person: My Life as Told by The Smiths
Thurs 4 & Fri 5 June 7.30pm
Fri 19 June 7.30pm
A story of hope, fame and love gone wrong from internationally acclaimed theatre makers Third Angel.
Meet William, a twenty-something Londoner who drifts from coffee shop to bar, falling in love, self-obsessing and finding solace in The Smiths.
Rachel always wanted to be a star of the silver screen from the moment she cuddled up to her grandpa on the sofa and watched old black and white movies on the television. She wanted her name in lights. She dreamt of a future and she ran away with the circus. With their trademark edge-of-the seat storytelling, mixed with some very beautiful design and staging, Third Angel slowly reveal Rachel’s life story. Gripping, funny and moving, this story of an ordinary girl and her extraordinary life is truly spell-binding.
Torn between conflicting loyalties to the girl of his dreams and his best friend, William has the chance to become more than half a person. An emotionally charged, coming-of-age story, blending wry comedy and the music of a beloved cult band, sung live by solo performer Joe Presley.
“Completely absorbing... very creatively and imaginatively staged”
Prior to a successful London season at The King’s Head Theatre, Half a Person performed at venues around the UK including a sell–out performance at The Lowry, in The Smiths’ hometown, Salford.
“I came away feeling inspired and exhilarated”
“Presley’s comic timing is spot-on” The Sunday Times
Audience quotes from the show’s first performances at Sheffield Theatres
“Presley delivers the songs with unimpeachable clarity, waving his arms and wiggling his behind in exactly the right way to please the Morrissey obsessives” The Stage
“the visual payoff is sublime... It is well worth getting to know Rachel” The Guardian Tickets Standard £8, Under 25’s £5
