Lauren Marsden - Conjoined Realities 4th June - 6th July 2019 Since his recent passing, holding onto her father’s memory has opened a window to an unfamiliar place. This place was his working life, a part of who he was that had been left untold. These photographs evoked a sense of realisation of this other life that he left at the front door of the family home.

The DNA has been suspended in soap solution and used by Charlotte to create performances and installations filled with bubbles. The ‘recording’ fills the air, pops on visitors’ skin and literally bathes the audience in music.

Abstract expressionism is emblematic of these issues, whereby female artists of the era were marginalised and disregarded, whilst male artists rose to prominence. This blueprint can be applicable to contemporary patriarchal power structures.
