The Importance of Alumni and Friends
DURING THE LAST ACADEMIC YEAR, I had the privilege of meeting many of you at campus events such as Reunion, and during my travels to places like San Francisco, Mexico, and India. Every time I encounter alumni and friends of the Kennedy School, I am reminded of the importance of our work. Our dedicated alumni and friends are making a tremendous, positive difference in the world, and for this I am very grateful.

Kennedy School alumni and friends are having an impact not only around the globe, but also in Cambridge. Your generosity fuels many initiatives, not the least of which has been our renewed and expanded campus. I hope you come back to Harvard Kennedy School soon, perhaps for your Reunion, to visit our new space!
You are an important part of the Kennedy School family, and there is so much that you can do—and that many of you already do—to stay connected with us. You serve as mentors and work with the Office of Career Advancement to take students on as interns, you hire students, and you serve as Policy Analysis Exercise clients. You also help us to identify and recruit the very best students to the Kennedy School. I am so thankful to all of you for your thoughtful partnership with us, which makes it possible for us to pursue our mission to improve public leadership and public policy in the United States and around the world.
I hope you enjoy these highlights from the 2017–2018 academic year, and I hope that our paths cross in the coming semesters.
With my very best regards,
DOUGLAS W. ELMENDORF
