Located in the Honey Ant Hills in the heart of the Central desert, 240 km north-west of Alice Springs, lies the Papunya Tjupi art center. Representing many artists who are descendents from the original Papunya movement of the 1970s, Tjupi Arts is a recent organization formed in 2007 to provide an additional cultural network and socio-economic benefits for communities in this region. The art center currently services close to 150 artists from Papunya and surrounding outstations, with a recent influx of emerging male artists following the construction of a purpose built Men’s Studio in 2019. Known for their strong line-work and innovation, Papunya Tjupi artists develop new ways to tell the old stories, with a diverse color palette, large-scale canvasses and originality. This debut USA exhibit is on view for the 2020 winter season in Sun Valley, Idaho.
