HIGH DEMAND FOR QAULITY TODAY SELLING TO £2050 TWICE A smaller entry today, but a packed ring of buyers were in attendance to bid on all lots on offer, we had a super selection of heifers today which met a very consistent trade once again averaging £1589.16, selling to £2050. Montbeliardes from the ongoing dispersal of R & C Bates topped at £2050 for a cracking Urbaniste daughter this second calver was yielding 47kg daily and was secured by G A Hargreaves & Sons of Creswell, they also took home with them several other lots including a super heifer from PA&JM Astley, of Deytheur, this pedigree heifer Deytheur Goldmine Biscuit calved on the 21 st March and was yielding 27kg daily she was secured for £2050, also selling for £2000 was a cracking homebred heifer from O C Whittaker & Sons Ltd, Tabley Matson Morn calved on the 17th March and yielding 31.kg daily she also went to the same purchaser, the family also took home with them a great heifer from regular vendor JKT Jones of Westbury this unregistered heifer was giving 29kg daily she was sired by Smiddiehill Gold Bullion she was secured for £1800. Other heifers sold for £1700 for J B & J Cambidge, Jayburn Hampton Beauty calved on the 21st March and already yielding 27kg she was secured by Richard Bowdler. Monties Heifers sold to £1710 for a heifer from R & C Bates this heifer yielding 33kg daily was snapped up by a local buyer. Montie 4th Calvers sold to £1490 for a cow yielding 39kg daily. Quality was the call of the day with lots of buyers looking for strength, great condition and milk, this type of animal was easily placed and lots of buyers were looking for this type of commodity. Cow making type heifers were selling in the region of £1200 to £1550, this week this type of heifer was more eagerly sought as this type of animal has become more difficult to sell. Late May calving heifers sold to £960 for heifers from Standon Old Hall Ltd, to a Whitchurch buyer. Once again another great attendance at the weekly sale, more quality animals required to supply buyers demand, thank you to all vendors and purchasers for supporting the weekly sale.
