STUDIO WORK
: Dubai Diabetes Treatment Center
Project Brief: An in-patient/out-patient facility that functions as a fully equipped hospital and treatment center for people dealing with Diabetes Mellitus. Patients visiting the center will enjoy a nurturing and positive atmosphere. The building is designed using an intersecting cubic form repeated and stacked with a floral design that breaks the rigidity of the sharp angles and corners.

All medical supplies and machines are hidden behind the wall panel when not in use. The hand rail of the bed is designed in the same floral pattern used through-out the rest of the treatment center.

Material Selection & Floor Design: Since the developer sold property by the sea, the floor design resembles a sort of marina/shoreline. The blue marble is used for areas where clients would walk and move around; and the sand-colored marble represents the shore where the reception desk and lounge areas are located (stationary areas). Glass is used for the exterior deck and carpet for the offices and the auditorium.

Symbolism: The installation symbolizes Islam. The harsh unappealing exterior of the maze symbolizing how the religion is portrayed by the media. The interior of the maze shows what the religion is truly about: peace and tolerance.

CONCLUSION Observing my work should tell you a lot about who I am as a designer; that I love what I do and strive for excellence when it comes to my passion. I aim to create ideas through my vision that result in outcomes that are outside the context of what is common or ordinary. In the words of architect and designer Karim Rashid: “....I am working constantly. When you work, you must focus and work only; then you can work less and accomplish more. When you play, focus to play only, then you will have more fulfilled relations or pleasure. When you rest or relax focus on just that, then you will be rejuvenated always. In other words if you devote yourself to the experience at hand, your life will be extremely well balanced, accomplished, and more fulfilled.
