Tūhurahia, ākona, hangaia, kia ngahau! Discover, learn, create and have fun! Work on the different challenges over the summer - you can do them in any order. More of a reader? The Reader challenge is repeatable!

Pūrongo mai Report in Once you complete a challenge, tell us all about it by either reporting in virtually or coming to see us at the library.

Me whai wāhi mai kia toa ai! Be in to win awesome prizes! Be in to win with weekly prize draws held between 5th December 2022 – 29th January 2023. You will automatically be entered into the draw for each week that you complete a report-in. You will also go into the draw for the grand prizes at the end – you get to choose which draw you want to enter! The more report-ins you do, the more chances you have to win. Imagine if your favourite board game or video game came to life - what would it be like?

Recreate a scene from your favourite book or movie - draw, paint, make a diorama!

Challenges Draw a map of an island you’ve ‘discovered’, give it a name, a flag and a landmark that marks the island as your new home.

Find out about a cultural holiday you’ve never heard of before. Research it and make a decoration to represent it.

Take 50 steps in any direction and tell us what you find there. What obstacles did you face along the way?

Create a costume or prop from your favourite book, movie or game.

Research or interview a whānau/family member - what was life like for them?

Review a youtuber or a youtube video.

Find out about the history of your street name.

Crack the code! Tell us what the secret phrase is. (Check out the website or in the library!)

Ask a family member about what games they used to play as a kid and learn one.

Create your own treasure hunt. Make a floor plan of your room/house, hide something, mark the places on the map, and have someone find them.

Learn about a NZ inventor. We have some awesome ones.

Get out all of your drawing materials (pens, pencils, felts etc.), close your eyes and choose three. Draw a picture with only those three colours.

Write or perform a song.

Keep a weather diary for a week, then present it in song or dance.

Do some star gazing and map out a constellation can you find out anything interesting about it?

Explore a body of water and tell us what you find (rock pool, river, stream, ocean, lake).

Draw or paint a picture… with your toes!

Create a board game for you and your whānau.
