A SYSTEM FOR VARIETY LOGOS

This bit of our logo (the stamp) is variable

It always includes the word ‘district’ at the same size but highlights something different that defines us. We can change the colour out to one that is in our palette depending on what background the logo is placed on.

We grow beyond our core, creating stamps that connect to different subjects or situations.

These are our goto definitions we interchange across our communications when not using the District Council stamp.

We don't hero one more than the other, we can pick any one, the goal is to be different!

Colour ownership

We avoid a certain colour being owned by a particular group or being restricted to mean a specific thing. It should be used freely to fit context, message or tone.

Our go-to approach is to use a neutral base with accents of colour.

Contrast

To help with accessibility and legibility we meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards for any essential information. You can use tools like adobe color checker to make sure.

Dialling up colour

We can use full colour for effect when it is called for. Be aware of colour contrast for accessibility when dealing with important or smaller information.

MOSTLY STICK TO USING PANGO OR KIRĪMI AS OUR BACKGROUNDS & USING POPS OF COLOUR

OCCASIONALLY WE USE FULL COLOUR FOR EFFECT LIKE TO INDICATE DANGER OR FOR A FUN EVENT

NO ONE OWNS A COLOUR. WE MIX IT UP. EACH COLOUR CAN BE USED TO MEAN MANY THINGS.
