ABOUT ME My name is Hattie Mullins and I was born and raised in Galveston Island Texas where my love and passion for the beach originated from. Just living only 3 blocks away from it made it easy to always find myself on the beach, whether it was walking my dog there, tanning with my friends, fishing, going on runs, surfing, stand up paddle boarding and even working on the beach. For 6 summers I worked for Galveston Island Beach Patrol as a seasonal lifeguard where I became CPR and EMR certified. My love for the beach and water drew me to Texas State University in San Marcos with comfort in knowing the river is nearby. Throughout my career at Texas States Interior Design program, I became proficient in softwares such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup and InDesign. Each semester my passion for design grows as well as my ambition to learn more.

WITTE MUSEUM

Studio II Commercial Interiors | Fall 2021 Rendered in Revit

3801 Broadway Street, San Antonio, TX Located right in front of San Antonio’s river, the Witte Museum offers 175,000 square feet of exhibit space. Part of that space is divided up between prehistoric, geography, people of the Pecos exhibits.

32

Located inside the Witte Museums’ Mays Center, I designed a dining area that also acts as common seating, an interactive exhibit, a pop up shop as well as a kiosk that hosts food, coffee and beverages.

When you initially walk into the Mays Center, your welcomed with lush plants and natural wood from floor to ceiling, creating the sense as if your in a tree house or the jungle, It could be anything you see it as because it brings endless inspiration to mind. 34

The intent for this design is to create a space that allows people to feel connected, inspired and organic. This will be accomplished by implementing natural materials, organic shapes and a color palette that stimulates the inspiration of creativity such as oranges and yellows. These colors also reflect nature and scenery in Texas geography that is present throughout the museum.

36

38

The openness of the pop up shop creates a welcoming atmosphere for anyone to be able to travel in and out of the space. The floor material noticeably changes in between the dining area, main walk way and the shop to create a sense of guidance when traveling through the Mays Center, creating a winding and weaving effect. In addition, the change in floor materials creates a sense of change in environment.
