THE ACCOMMODATIONS .

Dublin, Ireland

Dublin, Ireland

The Highlights Built in 1796, the Kilmainham Gaol closed in 1924 and is now Europe's largest unoccupied building of its kind -- if you do not count the ghosts of former inmates and wardens. This is where the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising were executed (alongside many others). Could this be why this Gaol is widely considered to be one of most haunted places in Ireland? Dating back to the 13th century on the site of a Viking settlement, Dublin Castle served for centuries as the headquarters of the British administration in Ireland. There is no doubt of the intensity of haunts within the wall of Dublin Castle is off the scale. Listen closely. You may hear moans and groans while touring the castle, which many say are the spirits that lurk within these spaces. www.SecretIrelandTours.com

The Highlights Built in late 1700s, prisoners were held here during the 1798 Rebellion and the Great Famine in 1798. Wicklow Gaol was a place of horrendous atrocities in which prisoners were tortured and starved. It was overcrowded and there was no medical treatments for the prisoners. So horrific, the locals call it "The Gates of Hell." Wicklow Gaol has earned its reputation as one of the most haunted places in Ireland. Built in the 13th Century, this Mansion is cursed with Jealousy and revenge, igniting the phantoms that still lurk. The house is grand, but the Jealousy Wall amplifies the horrific disdain it was built on. The legend sites that Lady Belvedere's apparition comes forth at certain times, lurking the upper portion of the Belvedere House. Could the wall still hold the siblings’ rage of hate?

The Highlights The original property was built on 1730. Plagued by a history of famine and murders, Strokestown has a very troubled past. Here you will find one of the largest collections of artifacts pertaining to the Potato Blight (the Great Famine) that affected all of Ireland. It's a haunting glimpse of the horrors of this tragical era and what workers had to do during it to survive.Lough

This magical place also has its own dark secrets. Two skeletons had been unearthed with large rocks wedged into their mouths, due to the belief that their spirits left through their mouth. It is believe, they were buried this way with the hope of trapping the spirit in the body, preventing them to return to haunt the living they left behind.

The Highlights Westport House is full of history. Its chronicled time goes as far back as the 16th century when Grace O'Malley the Pirate Queen of Connacht ruled the land and seas around the estate. Built upon the foundations of one of her many castles which can still be toured in the dungeons today. It is said that the Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley used to lock up her prisoners in its dark dungeon.

Kylemore Abbey is a Benedictine monastery founded in 1920 on the grounds of Kylemore Castle. The Kylemore Abbey has a history of tragedy, romance, education, and spirituality. It has a 6acre Victorian walled garden, beautiful lakeshore walks, neo-Gothic Church and a Mausoleum where two of the original residents, Mitchell and Margaret Henry, are buried side by side.

The Highlights Mullaghmore Coastal Drive We will pause from the mysterious explorations to do a jaw-dropping coastal journey in Mullaghmore. Here your spirit will heighten with new energy and memories that you will never forget. But beware‌ This is where your soul will be captured by the Irish Leprechauns!

Glencar Water Falls Although not the largest waterfall in Ireland, it is one of the most beautiful. Ireland’s own famed poet, W.B. Yeats often visited the waterfall in his youth. He mentioned it in his poem 'The Stolen Child', in which he wrote about the Irish folklore associated with fairies and changelings.

The Highlights The Carrowkeel underground tunnels and tombs pre-dates the pyramids by 800 years, predating the Egyptian Pyramids. They form an ancient passage tomb cluster, in the Sligo picturesque Northwest Ireland. Magic lies within these strangely shaped finger-like projections that embrace the mountainsides. The power of Carrowkeel that is felt, has created its own folklore and New Age spiritual practices. The Cemetery in St. Johns Cemetery is said to hold the remains of (Dracula author's) Bram Stoker's parents, Charlotte and Abraham. It is believed (and essentially confirmed) that the Cholera epidemic of 1938 was said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s epic novel.

The Highlights Leap Castle is considered the most haunted of all in Europe! Fierce family feuds have plagued this 15thcentury castle. A brother turned against brother; killing him as he held Mass in the chapel. Centuries later a gruesome discovery of a dungeon filled with human bones, the remains of those imprisoned & executed in the castle. Several apparitions have been reported, including “IT, a small grey human figure with a skeletal face. King Henry II of England built Malahide castle for his dear friend, Sir Richard Talbot, in 1185. Today, the Castle's ghosts are as much a part of the estate as the ancient woodlands and the elegant rooms. Reports of hauntings go back as long as the castle’s 800-year history. The tales of battles, bloodshed and brokenhearts surrounding this medieval building gives reason for its spectral intensity.

The Highlights Brazenhead Pub Dublin's oldest pub is said to be visited by one of its former customers, "Bold" Robert Emmet, a rebel leader who, as an inmate at the Haunted Kilmainham Gaol, was hanged in September 1803. He's often spotted in the corner of the bar, watching out for enemies where he held Resistance meetings. He is also keeping an eye out for his executioner, who also apparently frequented the pub.

Fitzpatrick Castle The original house, Mount Mapas was built in 1740 by Col. John Mapas, although records show it probably was much earliest. Could the dark history and tragedies that took over the castle over the centuries bring the phantoms out to tell their secrets? Since we will sleep here for our last night, we will find out!
