Design Purpose

Making a Student Information Center in a site that located in the place where every students gather around is to be the place that can accommodate what the student’s needs. The building consist of four sections which is the lobby for general needs, the academic zone, the financial zone, and the consultation zone. The consultation rooms provide an one on one session with the students that needs private consultation about their college life.

Building Form

The building form comes from a basic circle shape that has a centralized character. This intention is to gather the students if they need any guidance so the centralized character from the circle form represents it. And then the form transformed into a much unique shape which is octagonal.

Zoning

The building consist of two zoning that divided into four areas. The public zone is for the lobby, academic area, and financial area. And the private zone is for the consultation room. A

Structure

The building structure is post and beam structure with sloping roof using zync alumunium material

Analogy

The building’s roof is an analogy of the existing tree that located on the site. The roof is made of zync alum and the height and sloping of the roof goes higher from the front to the back building so it makes a rhyming effects.

Design Purpose

This cafe in a friendly neighboorhood area purpose a cafe that focus on teenager as the target because of it’s location that near Padjajaran Campus, Bandung. This cafe has a unique traditional style. All of the cafe material using expose material so that people can really absorb the sense of traditional from it’s material. The traditional concept of this cafe makes this cafe really feels like home so the people would like to feel warm and welcome in here.

Building Form

The building form comes from a mix basic form of square and circle so that it makes a tranformation new form that fit into the site form.

Ordering Principles

Using ordering principles as the basic concept of the design here are the implementation of the ordering principles : Axis : Horizontal line in the center of the building. Symetry : The square form consist two symetry sides. Hierarchy : The back of the building become the hierarchy because it has mezzanine in it. Datum : The site became the datum. Repetition : Using similar window at the front exterior of the building. Transformation : The form transformation to fit the site form. 13

Characters

This cafe concept has various characters such as teenager as the main target, comfy and homey feeling, no alcohol because of the friendly neighborhood area, and open.

Theater

The concept Modernization comes from the phenomenon of the location of the site which is Kota Baru Parahyangan, Bandung that it vision itself that wants every facilities in this location to be all new, modern, and have international standards. There are already so many facilities in here that already applies modernization in their building. Seeing that many facilities, this city required a building that can accomodate the arts and entertainment activities with a huge ammount of people. That is why the Theatre of Musical and Art Performance comes to this city and applies the modernization concept as well to harmonise this building to it’s surrounding and create an integrated modern concept in Kota Baru Parahyangan.

Design Process

General rectangular form followed the form of site to fit context and facing the main road.

Transformation of building form into three different shape based on the zoning, which is lobby, auditorium, and service.

Transforming the roof lobby into folded plate, the auditorium lobby into truss arch, and the service into truss slopping roof. 25

Simplicity The simple form comes from using vertical grading on the building facade and using monochromatic color on the building exterior.

Tropical Using natural lighting and ventilation on the tower hallway to make the building performs effectively and efficiently.

Sustainability Sustainability comes from the appliance of the building form that fits the site shape and rigid frame structure for the sake of long term effeciency of the building.


Hotel

THE EARTHY HOTEL

A Hotel that located in Cihampelas street, one of the city center of Bandung city that has a potential of density and tourism, requires a place for people and tourist to stay that needs relaxation and get away feeling from the crowded situation of Cihampelas Street. Therefore, comes a hotel that bring back people to close with nature and have an eco-friendly concept that comes with three points of design which is simplicity, tropical, and sustainability.

Design Process

Basic ‘L’ shape to make the massing fit into the site form.

Adding a similar ‘L’ shape for the tower of the hotel to differentiate the function between hotel podium and hotel tower.

The green zone is intended to be a public space and to welcome people to come into the building

The light blue area is intended to be an open space of the hotel podium and intended to be an open swimming pool. Adding roof at the front of the building is to clarify the entrance of the building.

Library IOI (Read : One Zero One)

Library IOI comes to become a guidance, basic, and introduction to every aspect we search for. It’s purpose to become the place to search for any answers to all of our questions.The Name IOI comes from it’s concept which is Intellectual, Open, and Interactive. IOI has a resemblance to the number 101 which we know has a meaning of basic 101, or introduction 101. This really resemblance the purpose of the library itself, so that is why the name of the library is Library IOI (Read : One Zero One).

IOI Concept. Intellectual.

Intellectual has a meaning of smart, intellegent, and understanding something. Intellectual can be resembles by a book which is the source of every knowledge. That is why the exterior of the building resemblance of an open book.

Open.

Open represents an open minded mind which we all should have to gain more and more knowledge. It shown in design of it’s open space that is also support the concept of interactive because the open space makes people interact to one another.

Interactive.

Interactive is connecting, getting to know each other, active. The aiming for this library is to make an Interactive library that connects the people inside and also make people interacts with the building itself, so that people won’t easily get bored inside.


Library

Design Process

Dividing into two mass represents the library has more than one function, which are library and a co-working space.

Adding ‘L’ shape to make the massing fit into the site form.

Put a bridge between two mass to connect one another and make an inviting character to make people come on the front side of the massing.

On the first floor represents the body of the building so that is why it is one unit because it is also contain the main function of the building which is the library.

On the second and third floor the floor divided into two sides. The west wing is for co-working space, offices, and retails. And the east wing is the library.

On every point of the massing, added a curved form to represents the dynamic expression of the building.

Design Purpose

The New Tofu Village propose to make a brand new good and environment area with a better function that provides the main function that already spread on the existing site which is trade and services. That is why the main function inside consist Tofu Industry that accomodates the Tofu trade in Bandung and other function such as Information Center, Shopping Center, Hotel, Flats, Gallery, and Office that support the main function of the area.

Making the building as an urban gate is because of the area consist of many buildings with various function that integrates one another and it is located in a hook where every vehicle and people can see from four sides of area. 71

Making a new regulation of tofu industry in Pasir Koja area to create an ideal environment in every aspect such as convenience, security, health. And still take notice in financing aspect for the sake of the area sustainability.

The New Tofu Village are a way to rebranding the existing site to become a national tourism area by raising the tofu industry as the main purpose of the area.

Public Zone Private Zone

Zoning

Zoning in this area divided into public and private zone. The public zone is for any kind of transportation that wants to circle around the area and the private zone is strictly for the owner of the flat house.

Preservation

The Tofu Industry become the icon of this area because of it’s purpose to serve the tofu trading that spread in the area. The act of preservation that we purpose is to relocate the warehouse into this area and also to give the employee of the tofu industry a place to inhabit themself.

The Plaza

The plaza of the Tofu Village located on the hook of the road and give an open space so that it aims to invites people to come over to this place. It also has an Information Center to give direction and information for tourist about the place.

Tofu Industry Massing

The building consist of three floors. The first floor is for production area, the second floor is for storage area, and the third floor is a rest area for the employee. The first floor of the building doesn’t use any partition because of it’s function that consstantly use cookware so that it produce steam . So it better to be an open space so the area won’t heat up.

Pedestrian Ways

Pedestrian ways surrounded the tofu industry building and also connecting the building and the gallery.

Circulation

The building surrounded by two ways street so that vehicle can circle around the building.

Open Space

Activity Support

In the middle of the tofu industry massings, there is a retention pool to facilitates the preservation and purification of water.

Shopping Center

Shopping center is build because of the location of this area that locates directly in front of Pasir Koja toll gates, so that it brings a lot of people and tourist to come here to shop some gift and souvenirs.

Land Use

First and second floor are for shopping center and gift shop from the tofu industry. And the third floor is for rental office.

Building Form & Massing

Applying an effect of floating building by applying a stilt effect at the bottom of the building so that it creates an open space.

Activity Support

Creating an open space around the buildings so that people can rest or playing around.

Flat House

Flat house accomodates people around this area to live a certain life in a good and healthy building.

Land Use

Flats house purpose is mainly for public occupancy.

Building Form

The building form is a single bank vertical building, so that it can get a good lighting and air conditioning.

Activity Support

This flat has a podium that support the main activities of the residents., and also has other facilities such as multi purpose area to gather people together.

Open Space

Between the two massing of the flat there is an open space that divided into three zones, sport zone, field zone, and park zone.

Hotel

Hotel in this area provides lodging service for people that want to rest or spent a nice quite time in a comfortable and cozy room. It aims mainly for people outside of the city to take a rest before heading up to business.
